From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal
Dear Parents,
The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful day today! Your children certainly enjoyed the nice weather! For those of you who may have forgotten (or didn't know) our school is fully air conditioned! As the weather gets warmer towards the end of the year, there is always respite in our classrooms!
A few of the students wore shorts that were a bit too short today. Please be sure to check the length of shorts - no more than 5" above the knee when kneeling. Many of our kids have grown over the school year!
We will begin
MAP testing next week. Your child's teacher (Gr. 5K - 8) will let you know when they will be testing. This round of assessment is very important for us. It will give us growth data, not only from January but also from the beginning of the year. We will use this data to evaluate programs and teaching strategies in our classrooms. Speaking of data, your child's
ITBS test results will be coming home today. Each includes a narrative of your child's scores and a profile comparing them to the national average. We also use some of this data, however, I caution you that this particular assessment is NOT aligned to the standards that we teach in Wisconsin. Therefore, we use this data for overall planning but specific, individualized plans for each student comes from the MAP assessment. Please don't hesitate to give me, or your child's teacher a call for any other questions you might have.

Last year's 3
rd
graders helped prepare the soil and "seed the plants" for our first parish garden! This year's 3
rd
graders are helping with the beginnings of a "bean crop". They've been nurturing these seeds every day! Once the beans are strong enough and the weather warms more consistently they will be planting them in the garden. Thank you 3
rd
graders for helping with this project as it serves the food pantry in our area.
4th and 5th graders displayed their roller coaster projects (4th) and parachute projects (5th) along with the biography reports (4th) at the Engineering Fair last Friday.
