Focus on West Sac
in  the  Daily Democrat
West Sacramento was the highlight of the January 27, 2019 "Focus" edition of The Daily Democrat Newspaper. From interviews with our local leaders, to articles showcasing our cultural side, to the movers and shakers in the City of West Sacramento, all this and more. To view the article  click here.
Elected as Chair of the Delta Protection Commission and Member
of the Delta Stewardship Council
Effective Monday, January 7, 2019, I have been elected by my colleagues to serve as Chair of the Delta Protection Commission for a two year term. The Delta Protection Commission has a vital role in protecting and enhancing the Delta's unique cultural, recreational, agricultural, and natural resources. As Chair of the Delta Protection Commission, I became a member of the Delta Stewardship Council. The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta - providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. Appointed by National Association of Counties (NACo) President to Leadership Position
NACo President Greg Cox appointed me Vice-Chair to the Human Services and Education Steering Committee for calendar year 2019. This committee is involved in all matters specific to children's issues, public assistance, senior services and services to individuals with disabilities, and immigration policy to name a few. As Vice-Chair I attended the NACo Legislative Conference in Washington, DC held in early March. While there, I sat on subcommittees as we discussed the latest federal developments impacting human services programs at the county level. Attending this conference I was humbled to learn how many people know about the good work happening in Yolo County.
Transition to Committee Chair of Housing, Land Use & Transportation for California State Association of Counties (CSAC)
In January of this year I transitioned to Chair of the Housing, Land Use & Transportation Committee for the California State Association of Counties. This committee is vital to transportation/infrastructure planning, public works contract administration, general plan/planning (i.e. water), and housing policies just to name a few areas that will benefit Yolo County. I will be attending the CSAC Legislative Conference held in Sacramento at the end of April and the CSAC Annual Meeting held in December in San Francisco.
