House of Prayer
is a gathering of God's people who value:
Welcoming,
Openness,
Compassionate Community,
and Relationships

Here is an update of what is happening at
House of Prayer this week!
Worship This Sunday!
He also said, "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade." Mark 4:30-32

This is a time of growth. Many of us have gardens with plants, flowers, and vegetables that are growing each day before us. Soon these plants will bear their harvest and provide food. This is also how our spiritual lives work. The Spirit works in often unseen ways for a time and then a person begin to bear good works in the world. We don't just wake up one day and begin to do God's work, it is an ongoing process of development and growth. God can take a mustard seed of faith and transform us into agents of God's kingdom in the world! Join us Sunday as we explore spiritual development and how God helps us grow.

Congratulations Caroline!
Due to a school trip in May, we waited until last Sunday to celebrate one more Confirmation. Congratulations on this important new chapter in your faith journey Caroline! We look forward to many more years of faith together.
Helping Our Literal  Neighbors- Thank You!
Last Sunday several of you helped out at Season's Park Apartments, our neighbors to the south of church. We were able to plant flowers in 8 large pots, pick up quite a bit of trash, and help hand out flyers to all the units  including info about our Veggie Table there this summer! These little things make such a big difference so thank you everyone who helped!

Outdoor Worship at HOP
Don't miss it! On June 24th we will have our annual outdoor worship service on the Chicago Avenue lawn at 10:00am, combining both services into one fabulous extravaganza! Join us for this festive service and for the indoor picnic afterward. If you would like to help Joe and Diane prepare and serve the lunch, sign up on the attendance card.

Join the House of Prayer group and march in the Richfield 4th of July Parade! This is a great chance to celebrate with the community and spread the word about what we're doing together. New Church Pictorial Directory
Every 5 years we update the HOP pictorial directory. Photos for the new directory will be taken of all congregation members and their families August 8-11 and September 19-22. More information about sign ups will be coming soon. Contact Mary Settles-Kroeplin at [email protected] or Cara Wright at [email protected] with questions.
Community Gardeners Wanted
As the warm spring sunshine encourages new growth, we too are encouraged to "get back out there" and turn some soil in God's Creation.  The HOP community garden is always welcoming new ideas and helpers.  After several years as dedicated VEAP gardeners, Sandy Jenson and Kim Houle would like to pass the pitchforks to someone new who may have a future vision for what this urban garden can be.  If you are interested in managing or helping please contact Kim Houle at 612-558-0634.
Collaboration of Richfield Churches Blood Pressure Checks
As a part of our ongoing commitment to work together as collaborative churches in Richfield, Oak Grove is offering free blood pressure checks throughout the summer by their Parish Nurse, Lisa Martin. This Sunday, June 17, anyone interested is invited to attend. The blood pressure checks will take place between 9:30 and 9:55 in the basement Choir Room. The summer schedule for future blood pressure checks will be coming soon.
Women's Summer Bible Study at Oak Grove
All women are invited to attend our summer Bible Study sponsored by Lydia-Ruth Circle of Oak Grove Lutheran Church (7045 Lyndale Ave S, Richfield). The Bible Study will be on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the church. Light refreshments will be served. No preparation is required. The Bible Study is published in the Gather magazine, a publication of the ELCA for women. Copies of the study will be available at each session.  This summer's study is written by Anna Madsen who will present a three-part study on prayer.  Anna is a freelance theologian and proud mama to daughter Else and son Karl. She works with OMG: Center for Theological Conversation (omgcenter.com) and enjoys seeing the occasional moose and bear in their woods.
