Old Woodward Reconstruction Project Update - 6/12/18
Another week of the Old Woodward Reconstruction Project is in high gear with the project now 60 percent complete.

Significant progress was made at the end of last week (6-4-18 to 6-10-18) as contractors completed the installation of the concrete roadway on the north half of the project (on Old Woodward-north of Maple) and finished all the water and sewer work. Crews also spent much of last weekend grading S. Old Woodward in preparation for its concrete paving, anticipated to start on Friday (6-15-18).

Crews also plan to begin the landscape phase of the project along Maple which will include intricate excavation work. To help safely facilitate the excavation and landscape work for contractors and the public, it will be necessary to move the temporary sidewalks along Maple onto the new roadway. It will also be necessary to keep Maple closed to car traffic during the landscape phase so pedestrians can safely navigate the new temporary sidewalk on the roadway. The City thanks you for your patience and understanding as it undertakes the complex excavation and landscape phase of the project in the safest and most efficient manner possible.

With a targeted completion date of early August, the underground infrastructure improvements and the above ground enhancements on Old Woodward will result in a modernized downtown core that City residents, merchants, stakeholders and visitors will be proud of and enjoy for decades to come. In the meantime, the public is encouraged to visit downtown and see the transformation first-hand while supporting city merchants. As a reminder, free parking in all City parking structures is now available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) along with four, two-hour free valet parking stands strategically located near the construction zone.
