NOW HIRING: Apply for positions in the next Saturday Learning Academy by Monday, December 7. (New)

SCS is offering Saturday Learning Academies throughout the year for K-12 SCS students to provide extra enrichment and help address learning loss caused by school closures in the spring due to COVID-19. We are hiring K-12 regular education and special education teachers, as well as site administrator positions, for each monthly academy. Positions for the December 12th academy will be open until Monday, December 7. More details on positions for semester 2 academies will be coming soon.

Please note, the timeline for Portfolio submissions in Portfolium has been updated:

  • Point A Submissions - January 15
  • Point B Submissions - May 1
  • All Portfolio submissions should be uploaded in the Portfolium platform by 11:59 p.m. on May 1.
 
Portfolio Evidence Collections: Per Policy 4041, teachers are permitted to record (Microsoft Teams) lessons for evaluative purposes. However, teachers should be sure to obtain the necessary media release consent when recording students. Recordings should be securely stored with restricted access. Upon completion, recordings should be destroyed. Have questions? Universal Language Literacy Words are now available in new languages! (New)

Language translations of the 36 Universal Language of Literacy Words are now available in Spanish, Arabic, French and Vietnamese. Each version contains the English definition, a visual and a place for students to draw or write their own connection to each word! This new, valuable resource can be found in the ESL folder inside of the Curriculum Maps folder on the Curriculum & Instruction homepage.

By the time girls reach the 8th grade, they are 50 percent more likely to drop out of sports than boys, creating physical and social barriers that can last a lifetime. So, Nike is teaming up with WNBA and NBA teams to identify 7th and 8th-grade girls who want to help grow sports for other girls in their community. The Memphis Grizzlies will select two girls as “Game Growers” and empower them to use their voices and share their bold ideas. The pair selected will participate in virtual events and engagement with Nike and the Grizzlies throughout the year to see their vision of increasing sports participation come to a reality. The application deadline is Friday, December 4Get more info here.

The City of Memphis' MPLOY Youth Summer Experience provides youth, ages 14 - 22, with meaningful and rewarding summer experiences. Registration is open through December 31. MPLOY offers various career path options according to the participants’ strengths and interests, including soft skills training, entry-level positions and internships. Please remind all CCTE students to select CCTE for question 19, "How did you hear about us?"
