The Los Medanos College Food Pantry, a program committed to providing food to eligible LMC students in need, is fully stocked and ready to serve students with healthy and nutritious food! Students interested in participating are first required to have an LMC student and be a current LMC student for the semester receiving food.

What is the process to receive food?
  1. Students will need to first fill out an intake form in order to be verified as a student.
  2. After the intake form has been approved, the Student Life Coordinator will notify the student that they have been accepted.
  3. After they have been accepted, they can start picking up items from the Food Pantry.
  4. Students will line up and swipe their cards in order to receive food.
So, stop by the Food Pantry to fill out the intake form and to get more information. Student staff members are ready to greet you with warm smiles and to help answer any questions you may have.

Thursday - 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. & 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

LMC student club, California Association of Woke Student (C.A.W.S) and the Honors Club are co-sponsoring a speakers panel on the Black Lives Matter movement. Learn more about the movement from local activists involved.

February 23, 2017: Hidden Figures - Movie Matinee & Discussion
2:00 p.m. at Maya Cinema
LMC's own Dean of Math & Science, Dr. A'kilah Moore and MESA Program Director, Dr. Nicole Trager, will be leading a short discussion and Q&A on the film, "Hidden Figures". "Hidden Figures"
  is a movie based on the true story of a team of African-American women who provided NASA with important mathematical data needed to launch the program's first successful space missions.
 
Free tickets are available for LMC students, staff, faculty and the surrounding community, but seating is limited. Interested parties must register by following this link:  
 
  March 2, 2017: Trip to the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD),

The Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD), based in the Bay Area, is uniquely positioned as one of the few museums in the world focused exclusively on African Diaspora culture and on presenting the rich cultural heritage of the people of Africa and of African descendant cultures all across the globe.

Spring 2017 Graduates
Application Deadline - March 1! 
If you are planning to complete your degree or certificate in Spring 2017, the deadline to apply is March 1. Graduation is not an automatic process and the deadline cannot be extended! Please be sure to see your counselor to make sure you are ready to graduate. You can also use Student Planning to check your progress.

Commencement Ceremony Spring 2017
This year's commencement ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 26 at the football stadium. Students who have completed academic requirements during the Summer 2016, Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters will be invited to attend the ceremony. More information will be available soon at the   Commencement Ceremony Web page.
 
Early Petition for Summer 2017 Graduation
If you plan to complete your academic requirements in Summer 2017, you can submit an early petition for graduation through February 28, 2017. By applying one semester early, you can get an early registration appointment for Summer to ensure you can get into the last classes you need for graduation. For more information review the Graduation Policies page on the website. If you want to walk in the Spring 2017 ceremony, you can fill out an additional form in mid-April. Watch the website for more details.
 
Early Petition for Fall 2017 Graduation
If you will be completing your academic requirements in Fall 2017, you can submit an early petition for graduation beginning March 1, 2017. By applying one semester early, you can get an early registration appointment for Fall to ensure you can get into the last classes you need for graduation. For more information review the   Graduation Policies page on the website. Students completing academic requirements in the fall will not participate in the Spring 2017 Commencement Ceremony.

Students who applied and completed academic requirements in Fall 2016 have already received diplomas. If you did not receive your diploma, please contact the Admissions & Records Office.

The Los Medanos College Veterans Resource Center has been open for almost one year! Approved veterans may utilize the VRC to relax or work on homework. Appointments for Academic Counseling and Wellness Services are also available in the Center. To schedule an appointment, contact the Counseling Department at (925) 473-7449, or visit them in the Student Services Center, SS4-400.

Are you interested in taking part in LMC's Intercollegiate Athletic Program and playing on a team? LMC has a proud tradition of winning teams and successful athletes who have followed their dreams of college graduation, transfer to four-year colleges, and career success. If interested, begin by filling out the Athletic Department's FIRST CONTACT INTEREST FORM. That way, an Athletic Department representative can contact you for follow-up!

It's Baseball, Softball, and Basketball Season 
Both our LMC Baseball and Softball teams have have their season openers and their games are underway. Also, our Women's and Men's Basketball teams are steaming right along and are about to finish up their seasons!

Cal Grant eligibility deadline: March 2 
To be considered for a 2017-2018 Cal Grant award, you must have completed both application requirements by March 2, 2017 (Postmark Deadline):
  1.  Submit a 2017-18 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application
    .
  2. Submit a certified Cal Grant Grade Point Average (GPA) form to the California Student Aid Commission (Commission).
 
   
I completed the 2016-2017 FAFSA. What now?
Log in to the InSite Portal and check if you have a Missing Information Checklist (MICL). Then, submit all requested forms and/or documents to complete the financial aid process in a timely manner. If you don't see a MICL, check your Financial Aid Award Letter. You may have an award package waiting for you!

  • Click on Financial Aid
  • Click on Missing Information Checklist or Financial Aid Award Letter
  • From drop down, choose 2016-2017
 
When will I get my funds?
Pell Grant and Cal Grant awards are adjusted based on enrollment at time of disbursement. Pell Grant awards will be disbursed in two payments each semester. Applicants processed and awarded after the "2nd Pell Grant Only" payment will receive one disbursement for the entire amount for the term. Students must be enrolled in at least six units to receive the Direct Loan and Cal Grant disbursements.To view the disbursements dates go to:

Student Parking 
We love our Brentwood students!!! But as a Brentwood student, you probably know parking can be tight. While student parking at the Brentwood Center is free, there are "No Parking" and "Employee Parking" zones in the adjacent lot and surrounding business areas that are strictly enforced. We advise you to be conscientious and follow the rules so you don't get a ticket or towed...yikes!!
