Summer Sermon Series
Have you ever looked around on a
Sunday morning and wondered Why are all these people here? What brings them to church? To Christianity? To King's Chapel?
Especially in this congregation, the answers to those questions are interesting and diverse. Often the most fascinating stories are in the pews. This July we will honor the diverse beliefs, stories, and backgrounds of our congregation by celebrating a month of lay preaching. Several members of the congregation have been working on sharing stories of faith -- and they are powerful! Come on Sundays in July to listen, learn, and support our lay preachers.

Megan Benders joined King's Chapel six months ago after feeling deeply moved by the church's history, liturgy and Book of Common Prayer. She currently works at First Parish Milton Unitarian Universalist and is a student of the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. Megan lives in Dorchester with her husband Jorell, pup Suki and two bunnies. On Sunday, September 9th, 2018 Megan will be baptized here at King's Chapel and extends a warm invitation to you as her church family. Come hear her preach on Sunday about the good news of self transformation. |

King's Chapel Habitat for Humanity-Boston Build | Saturday, July 21 | 10 AM
We are gearing up for the King's Chapel Habitat for Humanity-Boston build. The build runs on Saturday, July 21, from 10 AM to 3 PM. The build will be at one of the HFH-Boston sites now under construction in Roslindale, Mattapan, or Dorchester. The exact location will be selected by HFH-Boston based upon the specific build site requirements. Work will be available for all skill levels, including those who have never done this before! King's Chapel has supported HFH-Boston both financially and with multiple volunteer efforts. If you haven't done this before, please consider joining now. Invitation from UUUM
All our invited to join the Unitarian Universalist Urban Ministry (UUUM), one of our Community Action Partners, for a Jazz Concert on the UUUM Green, featuring
The Makanda Project
and an ice cream social on August 11th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Carol Genovese, who attended the last concert, reports "
Emanuel and I went to the Makanda jazz concert on the beautiful UUUM lawn. It was truly uplifting and amazing, one of the highlights of our Boston summer experiences outside of King's Chapel." Join other members of King's Chapel to help build relationships with the UUUM community with ice cream and jazz!

Request for help from common cathedral
common cathedral has reached out to King's Chapel and asked for help stocking their pantry with the following new, unopened food items to help them cook and serve food to our unhoused and struggling neighbors:
- Black Beans (pressing need)
- Garbanzo Beans (pressing need)
- Kidney Beans (pressing need)
- Tuna Fish
- Raisins
- Dijon Mustard
- Mayo
- Pickle Relish
- Soy Sauce
- Bottles of Italian Dressing
- Salsa
- Hot Sauce
There will be a collection bag in the Vestibule/entrance at both
Morning Light and
Morning Prayer services this Sunday -- please give generously.

Summer Vacation Schedules
Walter Bruggemann, Old Testament scholar and modern-day prophet, writes about the meaning of sabbath, "the one commandment no one follows." He argues that God called the people to observe weekly sabbath, not so that they could be more productive after they rested, but so that God could free us from that mindset -- from always measuring our worth by our production. As God freed the Israelites from Pharaoh, God continues to seek our liberation from a world of endless, anxious production and consumption. On our Sabbath we reclaim the primacy of relationships.

Wednesday
Night BBQ
Over 30 friends, old and new, joined together last night for the second barbecue of the season. The food was excellent thanks to all of the wonderful dishes prepared and brought by our guests, and we are grateful to Bob Fallon for again sharing his expertise at the grille!
For those who could not be here last night, the final picnic in the garden will be held on
Wednesday, August 15 at 6 PM. Save the date!!

| Leicle and Jan Chester recently celebrated their 50th anniversary on a cruise in the Baltic! Leicle and Jan visit King's Chapel every year for several months, worshiping with us. They have arrived for the summer and hope to stay through mid-fall. Join us in congratulating them on the blessings of their long marriage. |

Donating Decorative, Fine Art, and Furniture to Kings Chapel
Some of our generous members and friends have asked about how and whether to
donate furnishings or decorative arts to Kings Chapel.
We encourage you to consider Kings Chapel as a wonderful place to find a home for some things that you might wish to donate. Gifts of furniture and decorative objects donated by members over the years have enriched the rooms of our beautiful Parish House and Church. Members wishing to donate furniture or decorative art objects should first contact Gretchen Horton, Parish Administrator, at
[email protected] for a determination as to the current usability of such donated items.

Accessibility Assists
Our beautiful Georgian sanctuary designed by Peter Harrison and completed in 1754, has been lovingly maintained by the congregation since its completion. One of the box pews has been made wheel-chair accessible. Ushers are available to assist those who are wheelchair-bound to that pew.
A sound system has been installed in the sanctuary of The Chapel to amplify the sound during worship services. Hearing assistance devices are available for your use. Please see an Usher for assistance.
