July Small Grains News
Howdy,

Harvest is underway in most parts of Iowa and southern Minnesota and Wisconsin, good luck harvesting to everyone who still has small grains in the field! Read on for some new resources on small grain harvesting equipment and post-harvest handling and, as always, if you snapped pictures during harvest, I'd love to see them.

The full Small Grains Conference program is now online ! The deadline for pre-registration is Monday, July 23 . If you can't register by then, you are welcome to register when you arrive at the conference on the day of the event. I know we're cutting it close on the date this year as some may be harvesting still, please bear with us. Next year we'll aim for mid-August dates again for the conference.

Cheers,

Alisha

Blog from July Call Now Online
On July 6th we heard from farmer Earl Canfield about his equipment and best practices for harvest and post harvest handling of his oats. His talk covered equipment and use of a swather and pick up head to harvest. The blog from this call covers the presentation and discussion from this timely shared learning call.

Because we will have just wrapped up our small grains conference there will be no shared learning call on August 3. We'll reconvene Noon -1 P.M. on September 7th.
Harvesting Small Grains Standing
On June 27th Practical Farmers hosted a combine clinic to review the equipment settings and special parts necessary to harvest small grains standing with a combine. If you weren't able to attend the clinic itself, we wrote up a blog recap of what was covered. Read the blog here.
