Dear Parish Leadership:
Information related to the Paycheck Protection Program continues to be fluid and at times confusing. Here is the most up-to-date guidance I have at this point.
The Small Business Administration released a revised application yesterday. I have attached this document to the link below. I have also included the final guidance from the SBA on the program.
I still have not yet seen 100% confirmation that churches can participate. I still have the expectation that churches will qualify so I continue to recommend that most parishes apply.
It does appear that independent contractors (those who you issue a 1099 to at the end of the year) can NOT be included on your application for reimbursement. Those individuals in most cases can apply on their own.
If the bank you are working with requests confirmation of your tax exempt status, please contact me at
clinder@diocesecpa.org. I have been authorized by the Episcopal Church to provide the appropriate letters directly to you.
Please continue to work with your accountants and your bank as you navigate this process. I'm sure things will continue to change or additional guidance will be provided.
For parishes that do not have clergy or staff, I don't believe that you can apply for this loan.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please stay safe, healthy and home if possible. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Chad Linder
REMINDER: EMAILS TO DIOCESE
When emailing a staff member of the Diocese, please be sure to include your parish name and city either in the subject line, near the top of your email, or after your signature/name.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Please let me know if you have any questions.
