Dear Glenbard West Students,
I understand the considerable uncertainty and stress related to this pandemic and how it is affecting the lives of our students, their families, and our staff. Each week, my team and I are coordinating with our district, as well as the state and evaluating the steps we need to take moving forward.
In regard to continued coursework, please be aware that our E-Learning activities will resume on Monday, April 6, with Friday, April 10, being a non-attendance day. I strongly encourage all students to work hard in their classes and do the best they can under these circumstances. While the conditions are far from ideal, all of us need to do the best we can in terms of individual responsibilities.
As we know, Governor Pritzker has extended the statewide stay-at-home order through April 30. As a result, we will cancel school-related events and activities through April 30. While this was a difficult decision, the steps we are taking are necessary to protect the safety of students and staff.
Following this guidance, Glenbard West is forced to cancel all athletic and activity events through April 30. This cancellation includes our spring play, underclassmen recognition convo, and prom.
As you all know, these large events require a great deal of time planning and preparation. We understand their importance for students, and we hope you know that this decision was not made lightly. We sincerely apologize for the great inconvenience and sense of loss this will cause our students and families.
Moving forward, we will determine the status of events that occur after April 30, and we will update you on these later this month. In the meantime, stay safe and be well.
Sincerely,
Peter Monaghan and Chris Mitchell
