Microplastics Experts Presenting at Annual Conference   
Plastics seem to be everywhere in the news lately — bans on single use straws, limitations on packaging materials and microplastic challenges in the aquatic environment. CASA is sponsoring legislation (SB 1263-Portantino) that establishes a long-term strategy to address microplastics in the ocean. Voter Approved Prop 68 Provides Funds for Water Recycling
California voters just approved Proposition 68, a $4 billion general obligation bond for parks, natural resources protection, climate adaptation, water quality and supply and flood protection. The bond measure includes $100 million for water recycling projects as well as additional funding for flood protection, groundwater cleanup and recharge and safe drinking water. CASA, WateReuse CA to Comment on Revised Water Policy
CASA and WateReuse CA are working closely on creating testimony and written comments on proposed revisions to the State Water Board’s Recycled Water Policy .

Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board Adopts Comprehensive Salt and Nitrate Regulations
On May 31, the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board unanimously adopted basin plan amendments for the Sacramento and San Joaquin River basins and Tulare Lake basin to incorporate a valley-wide Salt and Nitrate Control Program.
Flushability Specifications Released
The International Water Services Flushability Group recently published a final version of its flushability specifications . The guidelines are designed to protect wastewater collection and treatment facilities by ensuring products labeled “flushable” actually break apart after flushing.

Congratulations EMWD for Being Tops in Customer Satisfaction!
Eastern Municipal Water District was recently honored with the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates award for the 2018 Water Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction Survey. Satisfaction is gauged by measuring 33 attributes within six factors: delivery, price, conservation, billing and payment, communications and customer service.

“EMWD is incredibly honored by this award,” EMWD President David Slawson said. “This recognition highlights the work of our entire organization and our commitment to creating a positive and interactive customer service experience.”

EMWD was also recognized as highest in customer satisfaction in the western region for its customer communications efforts.
