Roundabout Construction & Impact on RHS Entrances
Construction of the roundabout on M Highway near the north entrance of Republic High School has begun. MoDOT has informed the district that the current north entrance of RHS is in the way of construction. Therefore, a temporary north entrance to RHS will be created the week of March 25 and will open to traffic the week of April 1, closing the current entrance. The current traffic flow at RHS will not be impacted by this as essentially the north entrance is just being shifted slightly to the east out of the way of construction.

The temporary entrance will be constructed of well-compacted rock/gravel that will withstand traffic, including loaded school buses. The approach pavement from M Highway onto the temporary entrance will be paved with asphalt. MoDOT and the City of Republic will share in the cost of the temporary entrance.

Once the regular school year is over in May, the temporary entrance will be removed and all traffic entering and leaving the high school will have to use the west entrance off of ZZ Highway until the roundabout is completed prior to the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year in August. This means all summer school traffic will need to use the west entrance off of ZZ Highway. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation!

BOE Recap
BOE meeting At the March 21 Board of Education meeting the adoption of the agenda and approval of consent items  (found on BoardDocs)  took place after the Pledge of Allegiance. President, Mark Gimlin, provided a Board Update on upcoming conferences and meetings.

The February RepMO Hero of the Month, 3rd grade Schofield Elementary teacher, Kelly Hobbs was honored by the Board of Education. CLICK HERE to learn more!

Each month a building is spotlighted, and for March the building was Lyon. CLICK HERE  to watch the video the building put together.  We love that students in the News Leader LEAD Team are involved in sharing news about their school and community with the student body and employees of Lyon!

During the "student spotlight" section we had two presentations. First, the Board of  Education heard a beautiful piece by the RHS Percussion Mallet Ensemble. Second, Schofield Elementary's  3rd grade team and several students presented how they use daily Response to Intervention to the Board of Education. This practice was implemented in January of 2018 and since, the growth they've seen in students has been outstanding! Essentially, groups of students at the same level on a learning standard have special instructional time with one of the third grade teachers to help them grow based on where they are. We are so #repmoproud  of how these teachers are empowering their students to set and achieve their learning goals, and how these students are owning their learning! Their expertise is spreading throughout the Schofield building, and the results are exciting!

Following these highlights the  MSBA monthly report was viewed.

District Activities Director, Trevyor Fisher shared the process that the district takes when considering the addition of an new sport and activity. Dr. Chance Wistrom provided a monthly update to the Board as well. Full administrative reports can be found on BoardDocs.

The Board of Education discussed several board policies and approved the updated FY19 budget.

A reorganization meeting was set for April 11 at 6:00 p.m., and the next regular meeting will take place on April 18 at 7:00 p.m.

Next Chats with Chance, April 2
Join us at 6:30 a.m. on April 2 for the next Chats with Chance in the HUB at Republic Middle School. As a reminder, this is a casual opportunity to visit with Dr. Wistrom about any topics you'd like to discuss. All employees are invited!
