Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
We fly to you today as your beloved children.
We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.
Pray for us, loving Mother,
and gain for our nation and world,
and for all our families and loved ones,
the protection of your holy angels,
that we may be spared the worst of this illness.
For those already afflicted,
we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance.
Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful,
wipe away their tears and help them to trust.
In this time of trial and testing,
teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind.
Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.
We come to you with confidence,
knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,
health of the sick and cause of our joy.
Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,
keep us in the embrace of your arms,
help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

Resource for Preparing for Holy Week at Home
|
|
Joe Paprocki from Loyola Press, Catechists Journey blog offers this
resource
for everyone. Please feel free to share with your teachers and families. Hopefully, you can offer some off line times for families to participate in some family prayer activities. Maybe encourage families to do the Stations of the Cross together or participate in one of the many virtual masses.
Invite your families who utilize Facebook to “Like” the page Family Connections/Diocese of Green Bay. You could also have your FB page like this in order to share ideas to families.

Connecting with Your Current Families
|
|
There is no better time than right now to check on your current families and to ensure your retention for the 2020-2021 school year. If you have families that are concerned due to a loss of income, it is critical for them to complete the Choice Voucher application process and choose the DPI Method for income verification. In certain situations, the school may be able to correct an application if it is determined that the income does not correspond to the actual amount earned. This correction can only be done during the open enrollment period. I am working with School Choice to get final clarity from DPI on this. Please contact Lori Paul or Dean Gerondale if you have questions or if a family is expressing concern about making their financial obligations.

. We are asking that you, as School Principal/Administrator, sign the Survey acknowledging that you have reviewed the information provided and the data is accurate to the best of your knowledge. QUARTERLY BACKGROUND CHECK REVIEW DUE APRIL 10
|
|
As we look at this quarter's mandatory background check review, I again want to clarify what should be sent and in what format:
1) Rather than sending the last payroll run for the quarter please run a current active list of employees from your payroll systems. Report should include name and address of employees and be alphabetical order if possible.
a. If an employee was terminated during the quarter we ask that you submit the former employees name, address and termination date on a spreadsheet.
b. For any coaches or other 1099 employees not on the payroll system please provide these in a spreadsheet format with name and address in alphabetical order.
2) School employee list should include teachers, sub teachers, administrators, support personnel that are either charged or partially charged to the school expenses or have direct interaction with students.
The date to send to
Deb Knaus
is
April 10th, 2020
|
|
Schools/Business Managers:
|
|
Dean Gerondale is requesting four items from you
each week, on Friday
. Please send this information directly to
Dean Gerondale.
This is critical to understanding the potential issues.
1) Current cash balance savings and checking
2) Cash received by school and parish that week
3) Checks sent out (Separate payroll)
4) If you have a line of credit the remaining open balance available
Please pass this on to your business manager.

Frontline is doing its best to help schools during this crisis with some specific product enhancements. We are also offering free access to COVID-19 tracking & reporting functionality within Frontline Student Health Management through July 31, 2020.
We believe this will be of great value as it enables schools to track suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases, report trends, and send alerts to key officials. The solution will be of key importance as schools return to normal operations and need to closely monitor the health of their students and staff. There are more details here -

Thank you and your staffs’ for all your efforts amidst the fast paced challenges of the past weeks. You are all in our prayers. Please continue to keep each other in prayer. We have seen some great videos on FB of principals reaching out to their school. Feel free to reach out to our staff at any time if you have needs, concerns, or just need a “place” to talk. While some of the diocesan staff may be working remotely, we are still available to you. It would be great if the DASA groups can continue to meet remotely to share how things are going and continue to share ideas and best practices. We will have a
remote weekly meeting on Mondays at 2:00
in order to check in and share.

School Choice
Information
|
|
Schools have been closed for two weeks and we hear reports of your amazing efforts to educate the kids from afar. Keep up the good work!
Here's an update on our end of items in process and on our radar this week:
- A bill is in drafting now to suspend the hours of instruction requirement for private schools in the Choice program. The legislature hopes to reconvene and take this up soon.
- Additionally, the bill would extend the WPCP application deadline to 5/14. (We do believe the bill will pass in time, but recommend that you continue to aggressively verify WPCP applications now.)
- The SNSP permanent rules should still go into effect 4/1.
- SCW continues to press DPI for other deadlines to be extended, such as the May 1st summer school course list and surety bond, among others.
- WCRIS is advocating for the extension of bussing deadlines.
- In coordination with our partners, SCW is pushing back on the MPS announcement that they were stopping all Title activity and funding for private schools until further notice. Please let us know if other districts are taking a similar stance!
- WISEdata now instructs you to not enter attendance. SCW is pursuing this confusing directive with DPI when most of you are working so hard to provide remote instruction.
- Lastly, you've probably heard about the CARES act passed on Friday by the federal government in order to provide assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. CAPE, courtesy of WCRIS, has provided a helpful summary document schools can reference.
SCW will continue to send out updates as new information is available.
Choice School Support
If your school closing has you concerned about how to help families with questions regarding School Choice by
April 16th
, please feel free to have them contact Lori Paul at 920-272-8163 or email at
lpaul@gbdioc.org
.
Choice Forward Assessment
As a reminder, if you have 20 or more Choice students in grades 3-12 you are required to administer the Forward Test unless your families have requested to opt out of the test. You can provide a form that your families sign. Please remember that our schools use MAP to measure the progress of our students. Please contact
Lori Paul
if you would like a sample form.
Staff Pay Agreements
Under Choice requirements, schools must have a written agreement with their staff that shows the date they are paid and the gross amount they are to be paid. These agreements need to be signed by the employee and the school administrator and must be completed by
June 30, 2020
. These can be included as part of your contracts.
Choice Deadline
All Choice applications must be submitted and verified by
April 16, 2020
. After that time the portal will close and the families whose applications are not complete will not be eligible.
