Most parents can relate to the challenge of finding ways to keep their student focused and on task. This
Volunteer Cheer
goes out to a parent who, in wanting to help win this pesky battle, opted to help not just his child, but the entire elementary classroom. Rob Vandervoort learned about how movement and exercise help kids with attention. In his research, he found how "wobble stools" allow students to move around while still sitting firmly in their seats. After getting one for his son, he got permission from Ed White E-STEM Magnet School teacher, Ms. Hurst, to purchase these seats for the whole class. With the help of Ms. Hurst and a handful of students, all of the wobble stools were assembled and ready for duty in 30 minutes. Students came in the next day and picked their chair, which came in different colors.
Thank you, Mr. Vandervoort, for putting a bright idea into action for CCISD students.
