Join our Habitat Build

As part of a coalition of downtown churches, we help families realize their dreams of being homeowners by building with Habitat for Humanity.   Join us for our April wall-build day , and/or a full day build as we come alongside a local family eager to have a home of their own.  No special building skills required.   Sign-up here.   (You can also sign-up for 5/12.)


Great Coffee and Great Work Go Hand in Hand
Learn about ZOE's Work to Empower Orphans and Vulnerable Children
April 18, 6:30 p.m., Jubala Coffee, 2100 Hillsborough Street 

Join Jubala Coffee owner Andrew Cash as he shares about his recent trip to Kenya with ZOE.  ZOE Chief Program Officer and Kenya Country Manager Reegan Kaberia will also be there to provide insight into the ZOE model in Kenya and around the world.  This is a free event, and a great opportunity to invite friends to hear more about ZOE.   Drinks and snacks provided.


A Conversation with our Bishop
April 18, 7:00 p.m., Edenton Street Campus Sanctuary 

You may be aware that the United Methodist Church will be holding a special General Conference in February of 2019 to address/debate the denomination's stance on human sexuality.  To that end, a Task Force On a Way Forward was appointed to study the issue and to bring recommendations following their time of discernment together.    Our bishop, Hope Morgan Ward, has accepted an invitation to join us to update our church on the work of the Way Forward committee and to explain the possible options that lie before us.   Click here to reserve childcare.


Green Chair Project Chairity Event

Help Families who are Homeless 
April 22 - 28, Edenton Street Campus 

As part of a network of churches called  Family Promise, we welcome families who are temporarily experiencing homelessness, and provide housing and meals on the third floor of our Edenton Street campus for a week at a time, four-five times a year.  Each host week takes many hands, and we'd love for you to join us!  Here's how you can help, and contact links:

UMW Bake Sale
April 22, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., The Commons, Edenton Street Campus

Our United Methodist Women will be selling desserts and main dishes with proceeds going to help local and global non-profit ministry partners.  Pick-up some goodies for a good cause!


Racial Equity Institute Workshop 
April 27 & 28, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., First Baptist Church

We believe in the importance of talking honestly about the constructs of race and racist institutions, and in doing so, to consider our faithful response.  Throughout the year, we encourage (and challenge) those within our church to prayerfully discern attending one of the Racial Equity Institute workshops.  The content and approach are phenomenal.

Dig Into Community Gardens

Camden St. Learning Garden
Help is needed to do a variety of tasks in the garden to support community gardeners and grow delicious food.  Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at 811 East Davie St. Raleigh.  For ages 6+.  Sign-up here.

Alliance Medical Ministry Garden 
Garden workdays kick-off on April 14 on second Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., and the 4th Wednesdays 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.  Drop in (101 Donald Ross Drive, Raleigh) or  RSVP with Jesse Crouch, Garden & Wellness Coordinator.   Kiddos welcome.  There will be a fun garden launch on Saturday, April 28, with food trucks and more.  Details here.


Spring Cleaning?

Donate Your Gently-Used Clothes to First Baptist
The First Baptist Clothing Closet (one of our church neighbors) serves 1,000+ people a month, and is a great place to donate clothing. Clothes can be dropped off at First Baptist (99 N. Salisbury St.), Mon. - Fri. 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., through their back door (kitty-corner from our church, at the corner of McDowell and Edenton Streets).

Donate Next-to-New Household Items to the Green Chair Project
Help families transitioning out of homelessness, crisis or disaster by donating your gently-used household items to  The Green Chair Project .

Looking for ongoing opportunities to serve this year?  Here are a few ways to get involved on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis:

Loads of Love
Tuesdays, 5:30-7:00 p.m., weekly teams provide one free wash & dry to people in need, serve weekly or monthly. Email Dawn 

Reading Buddies
Spend 30 minutes a week reading with a child at a local elementary school (during the school day). Email Renae

Tutor with Neighbor to Neighbor
Work one-on-one with a child for an hour once a week.   Learn more.
 
Raleigh Rescue Mission 
4th Monday, 6:45-7:45 p.m., serve with our devotion/worship team - email Cate  , or spend time with children, giving their moms time to relax, rejoice and rejuvenate during worship -  email Tina.


Family Promise - Helping Families who are Experiencing Homelessness
Quarterly we host families who are temporarily homeless - providing housing and meals for a week at a time.  There are lots of ways to be involved.  Email Ed  to find out how.  Upcoming dates are:   April 22-29, July 8-15 and November 25-December 2.

Ruth Sheets Center
Spend time with older adults in ESUMC's adult day center.  Choose a weekday, 2:00 - 5:30 p.m.  Email Matt.

Missional Communities
We have Missional Communities across all of our campuses who live life together and serve in our community on a monthly basis.  Email Ashley to connect with one of these amazing groups.
