Compassionate Community,
and Relationships

Here is an update of what is happening at
House of Prayer this week!
Worship This Sunday!
The apostles gathered around Jesus, and told him all that they had done and taught. He said to them, "Come away to a deserted place all by yourselves and rest a while." For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat. And they went away in the boat to a deserted place by themselves. Mark 6:30-32

Jesus and his disciples did transformational and life changing work. They healed the sick, feed the hungry, proclaimed the good news and more. The needs of the people were never ending. Many of us can relate to an endless to-do list and attending the important needs of our family, friends, and community. Importantly, Jesus forces the disciples to rest and eat. We can not serve others if we are empty. We must first care for ourselves if we seek to care for others. This pattern of service and rest is embedded in the scriptures and Jesus' ministry. Yet, many of us find it hard to attend to our own needs or even acknowledge them. Join us this week as seek to understand how to faithfully serve.
Family Mission Trip Update
Our 12 families who went up to Superior, WI, last weekend had a wonderful time and worked hard despite the hot weather. Together they helped out replacing mulch at an LSS Crisis Shelter, weeding Barker's Island Perennial Garden, prepping Faith United Methodist Church for their big mission event this week, helping clients at Fruit of the Vine Food Shelf, picking up trash and branches at Wisconsin Point Beach, organizing & cleaning Twin Ports Habitat ReStore, and trailblazing & wood chopping at Camp Amnicon. Many thanks to all who came and helped out as well as everyone who prayed for a safe and meaningful experience!
