Radcliffe Creek Students will have work on display at the Chestertown Marina during Sultana's Downrigging on November 1-3.  Last year's 7th-grade class created work showing how African American sailors lived and worked during the American Revolutionary War. They worked with several artists to help bring their ideas to fruition. This exhibit has been made possible by the Kent County Arts Council and Arts in Motion. Please come and see the amazing work these students produced for this exhibit.

November 1st (5:00-8:00)- Chester River Arts Student Exhibit
See below for more information!

November 2nd-Chestertown Halloween Parade

On Saturday, November 2 at 10:00 am the Chestertown Lions Club will sponsor the annual Chestertown  Halloween   Parade . Families that are interested in riding or walking along with the RCS  Halloween   Parade  Float need to meet at Dixon Valve parking lot at 9:00 SHARP! PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT - LITTLE CREEK PRE-K
Each week, we will be highlighting one of our programs or offering resources for the Radcliffe community to illustrate The Radcliffe Way!

We often get asked why one would choose Pre-Kindergarten at Little Creek when the local counties offer free Pre-K. Little Creek is able to offer a variety of options that meet today's families' needs. We offer everything from part-time options to full-time options to include summer, holiday, before and aftercare. Our schedule is flexible and we are open from 7:15 am to 5:15 pm. We offer our students a small student-teacher ratio, individualized goals, and objectives and our students attend music, art, gym, library and Discovery in our K-8 program.

The parents receive reports and interims three times a year and are offered parent-teacher conferences twice a year where they are able to give input to their child's learning objectives. Our families receive a daily report through Kid's Report reflecting their child's day to include pictures, and it allows extra parent-teacher communication. The Pre-K teachers send out a monthly academic calendar, a monthly newsletter, and a weekly blurb so the parents are well informed on the happenings both in school, the classroom and the community at large.

We also offer speech therapy and work closely with the county therapists to make sure our students receive any necessary therapies for our diverse learning population. Our program offers a multi-sensory approach which is play-based and language enriched to include phonological and phonemic awareness, literacy, math, social studies, and science enriched activities as well as hands-on experiential experiments. The Investigator's Club curriculum is approved by the State of Maryland meeting all Pre-K standards. We are a level four in Maryland Excels and have received higher level of Accreditation. We use Handwriting Without Tears to introduce letter structure. The teachers and staff are educated, experienced and SEFEL trained. The children have large amounts of daily center time and minimal seated desk time. Our students also have large amounts of outside playtime throughout the day with varied play spaces available for gross motor development. The Pre-Kindergarteners take multiple field trips and have many special events and visitors throughout the year. Our program also offers Tiny Tigers, Dance, and Mindfulness Yoga during the school day. Our classrooms are spacious, secure with cameras to ensure the safety of every student in today's world. Our learning environment offers a sense of community and is family friendly with many opportunities for our families to be an active part of their child's education. Lastly,  our students in Kent County test above average with their Kindergarten readiness scores. Pre-Kindergarten at Little Creek has learning opportunities unlike any other Pre-K on the Eastern Shore.

POCOMOKE FUNDRAISER FOR HAPPY CRATES

Dear Radcliffe Friends and Families,

The Pocomoke Homeroom is holding a fundraiser for Happy Crates. Happy Crates is a company that sends care packages full of toys and positive messages to children with cancer. Pocomoke has chosen Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children to receive the crates that we are able to purchase. The Happy Crates cost $24.99 each.

We will be hosting a competition between homerooms. The homeroom that raises the most money will receive a Yellow Dress Down Day (date to be determined by the homeroom teachers). Yellow is the color for childhood cancers. Sassafras Homeroom is currently in the lead for this competition with $19.55!

Here is the link to our fundraising site if you would like to donate a whole crate. Please feel free to share the link with your family and friends!

Following the fundraiser, Pocomoke will be handwriting the notes to be included in the packages. A bake sale will also be benefitting our Happy Crates fundraiser in the next few weeks.

If you have any questions, please ask a Pocomoke Student or Homeroom Teacher!

Thank you,
Pocomoke Homeroom
