MinHwa, The Korean Folk Art Class

The PVHS Korean program held a Korean folk art class. MinHwa is one of the traditional Korean painting styles originated from the 17th century. Students had an artful time filled with fun and tradition. Students are working on traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees. Each image has a special meaning. Flowers bring happiness to the family. Carp brings huge success to the family. Tigers will scare away evil spirits and protect family. KHS will have an Art Exhibition with MinHwa at the PV library.

 SURF

This past weekend, the PV Surf Team traveled to Oceanside to compete in the California State Surfing Championship with their  best athletes competing against California's top surfers from as far away as Half Moon Bay (near Mavericks). The men's shortboard team finished in 5th place overall and Men's longboard team finished 7th overall in the state. This is very impressive considering the high caliber of athletes from up and down our coast. Also included in this contest, was a state individual competition to see who the top individual surfers are in California. The top honors in longboard went to senior Will Allen who finished in first place - best long-boarder in the state!    After traveling back home, on Wednesday, the All-Star competition continued from a week earlier back in Hermosa Beach. PV yet again had a strong presence. Gabby Wapner placed 2nd in women's longboard, Trevor Khan placed 6th in men's longboard, followed by Rodney Buck in 5th and once again, Will Allen in 1st place.

  VOLLEYBALL

The JV team participated in the Bosco/Valley Christian Volleyball tournament last weekend and went undefeated in 7 rounds to win the championship for the second year in a row!  The boys played great!  It was fun to see them work together and support each other through a very long day!   Here is a picture of the champs!!
