Special Recognition
Les Morris, West Portal, San Francisco, CA, was presented the "Lifetime Achievement Award".  Mr. Morris penned his thoughts to share with the District:

With much appreciation, I write to thank the English District for the service award. The years have passed quickly. When I started in August of 1964, I was 21 years-old, and now after all these wonderful years, I am almost 76.

Once, a few years ago at a social gathering I was asked, "What is your job?" The question surprised me because I never thought of teaching and being a part of the lives of my students as work but rather as opportunities to share the amazing love of God and bringing glory and honor to Him. This past year, when doing our school opening via our sound system, I reminded everyone that each day is a gift from our God and that we honor Him with the thoughts we think, the words we say, and the deeds we do. This is why we have Lutheran schools, and I thank God for blessing me with this awesome and amazing privilege!

Summer Camp
Redeemer, Oakmont, PA held a Summer Camp. Campers studied places like London and explored Africa on this "Amazing Race". They played soccer and made African masks.

A Dollar for Missions
One dollar, per member, per week = 1-1-1!

The English District has launched a new model for funding missions to which every congregation is invited to participate. It is completely voluntary, but we believe that as God's people see and hear what is being accomplished, specifically and directly in support and development of new missions and enhancing existing missions, more and more of us will want to be involved.

It's simple. Very simple. It is NOT burdensome, nor sacrificial. It involves every baptized member of the Body of Jesus in your congregation, from the newest baby baptized to the oldest member. It demonstrates the power of the beautiful body of Christ working together, prompted by faith. It shows how much can be accomplished by many, giving little.

Here's the plan: $1/per baptized member/per week. Simple, right? Self-explanatory almost. Not burdensome, nor sacrificial. All can participate.  Click here for more information.
