In the latest issue of Allegro, Local 802 attorney Harvey Mars writes that many older musicians are being asked to retire -- or they're finding themselves replaced by younger musicians. In this article, Harvey gives an update on the latest cases and how musicians can fight age discrimination.

Musicians who have stories of age discrimination can send a confidential e-mail to Local 802 here. We may publish a follow-up story on age discrimination in the future. (See our previous coverage here.)

The UAW  is sponsoring a national songwriting/video contest on the subject of labor rights and the future we want as union members. Top prize is $5,000 for best original song plus a recording session at AFM Local 47's new recording studio in Los Angeles. Click here for details and to enter.

Check out our feature profiles of Bill Kirchner and Christian McBride, our special coverage on Earth Day, an update on how musicians can fight age discrimination, a powerful essay entitled "Want More Gun Control? Elect More Women!", and much more -- all in the April issue of Allegro. Story suggestions and feedback are always welcome and appreciated: click here!
