If you haven't already done so (one response/parish), please gather your enrollment numbers and take 15-20 minutes to complete this report. We'll start calling/e-mailing folks we haven't heard from next week. Please save us a call and respond today; thanks!

RE/YM Office Hour: It's B-a-a-a-a-a-c-k
Thursday, November 5th at 9:30 am

For the next several Office Hours, we'll use the real world implications that Maximus presented at our Hebrews 10:25 event on October 22 as a guidepost. The first implication: "Catechesis must be kerygmatic." We'll apply that to religious education programming, to youth ministry and do some brainstorming, too.
|
|
This will also be your chance to check-in with us, let us know how your ministry is going: the joys, the disappointments, the mysteries. We're here to listen, to encourage and to help explore solutions and share best practices.

Speaking of which . . . Did you miss October 22nd? |
Even if you attended Hebrews 10:25 on October 22, you might like to review or reflect on the slides from Maximus' presentation on the 8 Real World Implications of the new Directory for Catechesis. The eight implications were:

- Catechesis must be kerygmatic - Kerygmatic Catechesis
- Accompaniment must be a priority
- Make Jesus the center of all that you do
- Rely on the Holy Spirit like your life and ministry depends on Him – they do
- Invest in your catechists
- Engage clergy, parents, grandparents, and Godparents
- The classroom model and academic approach for RE is not enough
- RE needs to partner with YM to be successful
We'll explore these implications in future Office Hours and host a 'working retreat' next April to do some planning and praying for 2021-22 (hopefully, at an in-person event!). Stay tuned.

2020 Grant Applications Window Now Open
The Catholic Foundation is pleased to announce it will be accepting grant applications from October 1 to December 1.
Each year the Catholic Foundation awards grants from the Advancing the Mission Endowments in Evangelization, Leadership Development, Lifelong Catechesis and the Monica Meyer Respect Life Endowment. The Foundation also has grants available through Lumen Christi and Catholic Foundation area of interest funds.

Pro-Life Reflection & Rosary |
Bishop Ricken recently gave a live-streamed reflection and Rosary for Respect Life Month. The event was watched by 250 people live, and over 1800 in all. Save the date: Saturday, January 23, 2021 for the diocesan Respect Life Celebration at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. Bishop Ricken will celebrate the annual Respect Life Mass. The day will also feature the Sisters of Life as well as engaging talks and the opportunity to network with other pro-life leaders in the Diocese. There will be an in-person option (as guidelines allow) and the event will be livestreamed. Details in next month's RE/YM Update.

This writing and drawing contest is for kids in grades K-8. Best entries will be published in the Christmas edition of the Compass and win prizes and possibly national recognition for the author/artists.

Green Bay Youth Conference (GBYC) News:
Guess what?
|
Due to the continued rise in COVID numbers and hospitalizations throughout our diocese, the likelihood of a significant spike in numbers after Thanksgiving and the possibility of a second wave this coming winter; we have made the decision to move the date of GBYC from this December 6th to Saturday, June 5th 2021.
It will still be at the Shrine for Our Lady of Good Help and Sonar Worship will still be our band. Our hope and prayer is that by June of next year COVID numbers will be reduced sufficiently to allow us to have GBYC safely.

What about Steubenville Summer Trips? |
Our office will unfortunately not be able to offer our usual Steubenville Mini-trip to St. Paul, MN next summer.
We are waiting on updates from Franciscan University before deciding the fate of the Extended Trip.
We eagerly and prayerfully look forward to the day that COVID-19 is a distant memory and we can plan and organize large out-of-state pilgrimages again.

It's On for 2021!

Love Begins Here is back for 2021!!! Mother Teresa of Calcutta would never let a worldwide pandemic stop the work she was doing. She would’ve done whatever she could…with whatever she had….wherever she was. We are letting her inspiration and the work of the Holy Spirit guide us into the summer of 2021. Yes, there will be a new version of Love Begins Here for the summer of 2021, but there will NOT be any fall Love Begins Here events for 2020. Thank you for your patience as we iron out our plans. Stay tuned for more information in the near future. We are excited to be back! |
