The Public Health Planner engages internal and external public health stakeholders in the development, maintenance, execution and evaluation of various departmental plans that address the health needs of our community and enhance operational processes of the department. This person is a member of the department's leadership team and is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data to help ensure efficient use of resources to address the health needs of our community and the department.
Essential functions include developing and implementing the department's strategic plan, conducting a community needs assessment and developing a community health improvement plan. The Public Health Planner also assumes a lead role in preparing the department for national accreditation and periodic state reviews. Additional responsibilities include arranging educational opportunities for staff members, researching grant funding, and writing internal policies and procedures.
