The Annual North Perth Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade
The Annual Santa Claus Parade will be held on Saturday, November 28 from 11 to 3 at the Listowel Memorial Park.  Due to Covid, it will look a little different this year and will be a drive thru version. This new format will meet all Covid safety protocols but still provide a fun experience for families. Santa will be making a visit! Provincial COVID Updates:

  • The application portal for the PPE grant that the Provincial Government announced a couple of weeks ago is now open! With this grant, eligible small businesses can get a one-time grant of up to $1,000 to pay for PPE. This grant is open to small businesses with 2 to 9 employees and who are in one of the following sectors: retail, accommodation and food services, repair and maintenance, and personal and laundry services. This grant is a reimbursement system so those who apply will need to submit receipts of proof of costs for PPE purchased since March 17, 2020. For more information about this grant, including a list of PPE that is eligible for reimbursement a link to apply can be found HERE.
  • The application portal for the Property Tax and Energy Bill rebate program through the provincial government is also open. Please note that this rebate program is only available to businesses who were/are in modified Stage 2 regions or regions who are in Red (Control) or Lockdown in the new framework. We are currently in Orange (Restrict) so businesses in our county are not currently eligible for these rebates. If we move into the Red (Control) level, then businesses could apply for the Property Tax and Energy Bill rebates. More information about this program can be found HERE.

Federal COVID Updates:

The Federal Government announced that Bill C-9 received Royal Assent. This Bill will provide businesses with the financial support listed below. It is expected that the application portal for the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy will be open next week and we will provide you with more information as soon as those details are available.
  • Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) – the CERS program will provide direct rent and mortgage interest support to tenants and property owners until June 2021. This support is available to businesses, non-profits, and charities that have been impacted by COVID-19. Eligible organizations may submit claims retroactively to Sept 27, 2020. The amount of the subsidy will be on a sliding scale, depending on the revenue drop the organization has experienced. You can find more information about the proposed CERS program including eligible expenses, eligible organizations, calculating revenues, and reference periods for the drop in revenues HERE.
  • Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) – the CEWS program will be extended until June 2021. You can find more information about the proposed changes to the CEWS program HERE.
  •  Lockdown Support – as part of this legislation, the Federal government is providing qualifying organizations that are subject to a lockdown and must shut their doors or significantly limit their activities under a public health order, with a top-up under the new Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) program to provide support while they are in lockdown. This new lockdown support would include a 25% top-up to the rent subsidy. More information about this proposed change can be found HERE
