Tomorrow's events - your last chance to book

Attend one of our funding and BID renewal events and help shape how a potential £2million will be spent in Luton town centre.

To ensure all businesses have the opportunity to attend we are holding three sessions tomorrow (Wednesday, July 3rd) – so pick the one that suits you.

  • Morning: 8.30am to 10am at Tokko - book HERE.
  • Lunchtime: 12.30pm to 2pm, AW House - book HERE
  • Early evening: 5.30pm-7pm, UK Centre for Carnival Arts - book HERE.

In 2015 Luton town centre voted to become a Business Improvement District, generating more than £2.2million to spend in and on the town centre. In October businesses will be voting again.

If the result is YES businesses will have a further £2million – to improve and invest in the town centre. Find out more on our BID website HERE.
Luton town centre is flying the flag

Luton town centre is flying a Purple Flag for the second year – winning this sought-after accreditation.
Judges from the Association of Town and City Management (ATCM) first awarded purple flag status to the town centre last year and have this month renewed it – with Luton one of over 70 town and city centres in the UK and Ireland with the award, which is comparable to the ‘Green Flag’ for parks and ‘Blue Flag’ for beaches.

ATCM judges praised the town centre for its strong partnership working and continued: “A great first year for this town centre and it is a real positive to hear that a ‘Night Mayor’ for Luton has been appointed - a fantastic conduit for growth to the area.”

Luton Business Improvement District (BID) funded the Purple Flag application and worked with partners throughout the process which was led by Luton Borough Council.
Action Counters Terrorism event

ACT Awareness is a national initiative for businesses produced by Counter Terrorism Policing and the National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) to protect our cities and communities from the threat of terrorism.

BID businesses only are invited to an ACT session on Tuesday, 16th July, 3.30pm to 6pm, at Tokko, 7 Gordon Street. This aims to:

• Encourage people to report suspicious activity or behaviour
• Increase public understanding of what activity or behaviour to look out for by highlighting examples of terrorist attack planning methods
• Increase awareness of key reporting channels like gov.uk/ACT
• Reinforce the message that communities defeat terrorism – and the key role the public have to play in helping tackle the terrorist threat
