Online Distance Learning "First Day of School"
Yesterday the launch of RCS Online Distance Learning was a HUGE success!!! Were there technology problems? Absolutely! Did we rise to the challenge? You had better believe it!! The RCS Faculty was more than prepared. They had lessons prepared, videos made, and digital classroom leadership strategies ready to go. I am so proud of each and every member of the faculty for quickly pivoting to online distance instruction. As with any new skill, it is going to get even better over time.

A big, " THANK YOU !" to all of the RCS parents and guardians, who helped with technology behind the scenes, as well as to those parents who wrote encouraging emails to our wonderful teachers.

I also want to say, " YOU ARE AMAZING! " to all of the RCS students who are participating and learning to the best of their abilities.

I deeply appreciate how everyone has stepped up to this new challenge of Online Distance Education. It shows the entire RCS community is collectively committed to students and what is best for them, no matter the circumstances.

Sending Sunshine - a Service Opportunity for All Ages
We have a service project opportunity for all RCS students TK - 12th!

An RCS family shared this service opportunity with us, and we want to give you the chance to help! This is completely optional and not a school assignment, rather a way to serve others from home. Click here for more details ! (a link will also be on our campus Distance Learning web pages for future reference)

Tech Issues?
While all of RCS is working behind the scenes to improve the deployment of Online Distance Learning, we have an awesome announcement! Beginning next Monday, K-3rd Science Teacher, Mrs. Wo, will be available to help elementary families with technology problems either with Zoom or over the phone.   Click here  for instructions on how to contact Mrs. Wo if she can be of help.

State-Wide Stay-At-Home Order
Last night CA Governor Newsom announced a new state-wide stay-at-home order, however, this does not impact the RCS Online Distance Learning plan. Our faculty has quickly already pivoted from being in their classrooms to teaching from their own homes. Today, I watched Mrs. Bicker teach kindergarten and Miss Orluck teach first grade: They were both using direct instruction, and their students were paying attention, participating, and learning while already following Governor Newsom's order.
