The Langley Events Center was a happening place again this year for the annual Canada Day Celebration on July 1st. Despite the threat of rain (which thankfully didn't materialize), Langley Pos-Abilities was there spreading the word about accessibility and inclusion of people with disabilities, and making people aware of our various initiatives including TOAD (Try On A Disability) and MERA (Medical Equipment Repair Association), our up-and-coming social enterprise to bring affordable mobility equipment repair to the Langleys.
The highlight of the day was our newly re-vamped TOAD challenge between the Langley RCMP and the Township of Langley Staff. The competition was FIERCE, but, the RCMP triumphed in the end and were awarded our new TOAD Challenge Plaque to hold in trust for 2018 and individual certificates of achievement.
Kudos though, must go to the Township Staff who stepped in at the last minute to take the place of another organization that was unable to make the competition. Who knows what the brave Town folk might have accomplished if they had had a chance to practice? Perhaps we will have to have a rematch next year to give them the opportunity to claim the coveted TOADY award for 2019!
Thank you for giving us your time and attention yet again, dear newsletter audience. We'll take a quick look back and a giant leap forward to let you in on all the news that's fit to print about what we are up to at LPAS this summer. Have a great July and consider coming to our events or even volunteering with us. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
