Recognizing Our People in the Community

Amanda Watson is a Den Leader and Committee Volunteer for Cub Scout Pack 929 in Chesterton, IN. She recently joined a group of volunteers, Leaders, Cub Scouts, and Webelos Scouts at Camp ToPeNeBee in Michigan City for the LaSalle Council BSA 2019 Day Camp. The Scouts of Pack 929 were able to attend Day Camp at no cost to individual Scouts due to their excellent sales during the annual Popcorn Fundraiser, but not all Packs can offer such a deal.

At Day Camp, Cub and Webelos Scouts are able to participate in activities that support the Scouting ideals, such as nature education, citizenship, and physical fitness. The Scouts have a wonderful time, but the program doesn't succeed without volunteers, Scouts, and a quality facility like Camp ToPeNeBee.

Each year LaSalle Council must raise approximately $185.00 per youth member to provide a quality Scouting program. To keep the program strong, the Council depends on Friends of Scouting, businesses and individuals who support the Scouting Mission of preparing our young people to be productive citizens . There are few greater gifts you can give to a young person, than the chance to develop their leadership and character to their full potential.

Since 1919, LaSalle Council, BSA has been serving youth in the local communities of Northern Indiana and Southwestern Michigan. For 100 years, Scouts in the LaSalle Council have recited the Scout Oath pledging themselves to a duty to God, Country and Self. Scouting provides young people with a safe and nurturing environment and instills strong values of and appreciation for family and community.
