Donating Gift Cards to NETWorks
|
|
Over the years, Tucker First has helped the NETWorks Good Neighbor Christmas Shop by providing Christmas gifts for families at a price they can afford. This year, as you might expect, things are different. NETWorks has determined that they cannot safely host the usual shopping type event, however they still want to help families provide for themselves at this time of year.
NETWorks has decided to do two things:
- For standard visitors to the pantry (not the general public), NETWorks would like to provide a $25 gift card to Walmart for each child in the household (maximum four or five children).
- Include a Christmas card for each family when they receive the gift cards.
How You Can Help
-
NETWorks is accepting donations of $25 gift cards (Walmart is preferred, Target is acceptable). If you would prefer to donate online and let NETWorks purchase the gift cards, go to https://tinyurl.com/networksgoodneighbor.
- Buy or make Christmas cards, add a message, and provide the cards to NETWorks in an unsealed envelope.
Deadline for gift cards and greeting cards to NETWorks is Tuesday, November 17. Please deliver to NETWorks offices only and not the church office. Questions? Contact Stephanie Suggs at stephanie@networkscoop.org.

UMW Create 76 Pillows For Cancer Patients
|
|
Our United Methodist Women (UMW) have remained busy even during the pandemic. Annually, they create pillows for breast cancer survivors to use after surgeries and treatments. They are shaped like hearts and fit nicely under the arm. These pillows are created and then prayed over before sending them to several groups in the Atlanta area. This year, our Tucker First UMW group has made 76 pillows! Thank you to Gail Cook and Carolyn Masters for coordinating the project.

Please Keep the Crawfords in Your Prayers
|
|
Tyler and Shalynn Crawford, our other missionaries in Germany, have suffered a great loss. Shalynn was pregnant and lost the baby. They had named the baby, Astrid.
Shalynn and I sat together to come up with a name for the baby we had lost. In German, there is a word for children who pass away before birth: "Sternenkind." Translated directly, it means "star child." We decided our baby, in that vein, should have a name that connected it - and us - to the size and astronomical greatness of Creation, of which we are a part. We named the baby Astrid.
