Shortly after the 9th edition of the 780 CMR state building code went into effect in October 2017, the Board of AIA Massachusetts hired a code consultant to capture, on a chapter-by-chapter basis, the differences between the then sun-setting 8th edition and newly effective 9th edition.

Commissioner of Insurance Approves General Revision of
MA Workers Compensation Rates

Effective 7/1/18, the Commissioner of Insurance has approved a general
revision of MA Workers Compensation rates, applicable to all new and renewal policies and experience rating calculations effective on or after 7/1/18.

AGC MA Meets with DCAMM Leadership
 
A delegation from the AGC MA  Chapter 149A Task Force met with DCAMM Commissioner Carol Gladstone and a number of her staff on April 6 to discuss a wide range of issues impacting CM's and Subcontractors. At the meeting, AGC representatives were informed of key structural and staff changes at the agency.

Over 7,000 bills are filed for each two-year election cycle on Beacon Hill by competing interest groups. The AGC/Mass PAC (Political Action Committee) was created to advance AGC's legislative agenda and to advance & protect your interests on Beacon Hill.

In accordance with Article XVII Amendments the Board of Directors is recommending the following proposed changes to the AGC MA Bylaws, which will be presented to the Membership at the May 4th, 2018 Annual Meeting.

Scholarship Program
 


AGC MA and the Massachusetts Construction Advancement Program (MCAP) gives out scholarship awards each year to deserving men and women who are enrolled in a construction or civil engineering degree program.

Scholarships are given out in early fall of each year. The deadline to submit applications is June 1st. Scholarship submissions are now open and can be accessed here.

Charter Contracting Company Receives 3 National
AGC Build America Awards
 
Charter Contracting Company, a Boston-based environmental remediation and civil construction contractor, received three National AGC Build America awards over the past two years. For calendar year 2016, Charter was awarded top prize in two of the 13 categories- in the Federal & Heavy Renovation category for its Muddy River Flood Risk & Restoration (Muddy River) project and in the Environmental Enhancement category for the Sutton Brook Disposal Area Superfund Site (Sutton Brook).
