Gertner has appeared on Penn & Teller's "Fool Me" multiple times.  "It kind of blew our minds," said Penn Jillette, of Gertner's trick with special changing messages written on a deck of cards. "I am a huge fan of Paul Gertner's...I did buy the book from him." See one of Gertner's appearances on the show in the video below.

"Miracles & Other Deceptions" is a 75-minute program for small audiences so people can see the magic up close. The Abbey Group's Managing Partner Audrey Epstein Reny ran as part of the Stepping Strong Marathon Team to raise money for the  Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation . The center is named after Audrey's daughter, Gillian, who survived after being badly hurt by the marathon bombing. The Abbey Group owns the Lafayette City Center (2 Avenue de Lafayette), and her uncle, David Epstein, is a BID board member.

"The reason we started this was we assumed there would be something that we could just perhaps make a donation or get involved with an organization that was doing something for trauma survivors, and there wasn't," said Audrey to the Boston Herald. "We ended up creating this so that now we are a passionate voice and a community of clinicians, researchers, and laypeople all advocating for funds to enhance and improve trauma research and care."

St. Francis House (39 Boylston St.) had a team of five running the marathon as part of John Hancock's Marathon Non-Profit Program. Together they raised $75,000 to benefit St. Francis House's programs and services. St. Francis House also held a citywide sneaker drive with the help of Mayor Walsh and many others to collect more than 3,000 pairs of sneakers.

Hyatt Regency Boston (One Avenue de Lafayette) offered complimentary marathon activities during the weekend, including a fun run with Executive Chef Kelly Armetta on Saturday.
