JFC Co-Chair's Statement on Signing of Child Tax Rebate, Sales Tax Holiday
Madison-The Co-Chairs of the budget-writing, Joint Committee on Finance, Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) and Senator Alberta Darling (R-River Hills) released the following statement after Governor Scott Walker signed legislation creating the $100 per child tax rebate and an August sales tax holiday:

"April 17th is tax day and Republicans are making it less painful. Thanks to the Governor's signature, hardworking taxpayers will now have a five-day sales tax holiday in August, and parents will receive a tax rebate of $100 per child. That's real tax relief for working families.

This adds to more than $8 billion in tax relief Republicans have delivered since 2011. Our careful budgeting has allowed us to make the largest real dollar investment in K-12 education in state history. The number of people working in Wisconsin has never been higher, and our unemployment rate has never been lower.

Wisconsin's economy is booming. We have a growing surplus, the largest rainy day fund in state history, and three national agencies upgraded our bond rating. Wisconsin is on a roll and taxpayers are seeing the benefits."
