THE SHREVEPORT SYMPHONY PRESENTS ITS SEASON FINALE CONCERT AND A FREE FAMILY CONCERT ON MAY 5 & 6
 
SHREVEPORT, LA, APRIL 16, 2018 - On Saturday, May 5, Grammy-nominated violinist Philippe Quint returns to Shreveport to perform Korngold's Violin Concerto with the Shreveport Symphony. The program and the SSO's masterworks season conclude with a performance of Brahms' monumental Symphony No. 4.  In addition, the SSO will present a family concert on 
Sunday, May 6 at RiverView Theater that is free and open to the public.

A free shuttle service starts at 6:30 PM before each concert. The shuttle picks up at Regions Bank parking garage at the corner of Milam and Market Streets.

Free Family Concert - "Carnival of the Animals"

The Shreveport Symphony will present a free concert with music that is fun for the whole family - Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with the Shreveport Metro Ballet, the theme from Jurassic Park, plus other works by Debussy, Elgar and more. Pre-concert activities - food trucks, instrument demonstrations, craft booths and other fun activities - start at 2:15 PM. This concert is sponsored by The Community Foundation of North Louisiana - William C. Woolf Fund.
Give for Good Day, May 1
Give for Good is a 24-hour online giving challenge led by The Community Foundation of North Louisiana to raise unrestricted dollars for nonprofits in our community. On May 1, from midnight to midnight, people can visit the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra's profile on www.giveforgoodnla.org/shreveportsymphony and give a gift online. Dollars from a national pool,  the local "Lagniappe Fund," and hourly prizes will be used  to amplify EVERY gift. 
About Philippe Quint
Lauded by Daily Telegraph (UK) for his "searingly poetic lyricism" violinist Philippe Quint is carving an unconventional path with his impassioned musical desire for reimagining traditional works, rediscovering neglected repertoire to commissioning works by contemporary composers. His dedication to exploring different styles and genres with an award winning discography has solidified him as one of the foremost violinists of today.

At the invitation of Maestro Vladimir Spivakov, Philippe opened the 28th edition of Colmar Festival dedicated to Jascha Heifetz with Tugan Sokhiev conducting the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in a performance of Korngold Violin Concerto. Earlier this year he was part of the opening of Mary B. Galvin's new hall in Chicago hosted by Renee Fleming.

Constantly in demand worldwide, Quint's recent appearances include performances with the orchestras of London, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, New Jersey, Minnesota, Bournemouth, Houston, Weimar Staatskapelle, Royal Liverpool, China National, Orpheus, Berlin Komische Oper, Leipzig's MDR at the Gewandhaus.
