The most recent governor's budget provides funding, beginning in fiscal year 2019, to create a new mental health grant program (WI §115.367). The Department of Public Instruction will award grants to school districts, and operators of independent charter schools, to be used for the purpose of providing mental health services to pupils, in collaboration with community health agencies

Until the formal grant application is finalized, any school that is interested in applying for grant funding may submit a short letter of interest to the DOJ at [email protected], identifying the following information: (1) a single point of contact for the school along with contact information; (2) the type of school safety project you hope to implement; (3) the name of the law enforcement agency that will review and approve your project; (4) an approximate dollar amount of the grant you plan to request; (5) whether your project could be in place for the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, and; (6) when you will be in a position to submit a fully developed application and plan.

According to the   DOJ Website, the formal grant application process will be announced next week.

DPI is now accepting applications for schools interested in engaging in our Trauma Sensitive Schools Professional Development process. This multi-year process involves regional coaching and technical assistance to support schools as they embark on the journey of becoming more trauma sensitive. Title IV, Part-A-  The Title IV, Part-A application is now live in WISEgrants.  This Title is eligible for 100% carryover if sites are not able to strategically allocate the dollars this school year (consultation with private schools is still required).  With the passage of the 2018 Omnibus, districts should receive a new allocation in the 2018-19 school year.  For more information on Title IV-A, visit https://dpi.wi.gov/titleiva .
