Fireworks Safety Tips

The City of Rancho Cordova, Rancho Cordova Police Department, and Sacramento Metro Fire District encourage residents to be safe when using fireworks this 4th of July season. All legal fireworks in California are called Safe and Sane Fireworks and have the State Fire Marshal's seal. They may be sold only from noon on June 28, 2019 through 10 PM on July 4, 2019.

In Rancho Cordova, use of fireworks is allowed between noon on June 28, 2019 through 10 PM on July 4, 2019.  Click here for fireworks safety tips to ensure your July 4th celebration is safe for everyone.

RCPD will double the number of patrol officers working on July 4, 2019. The use of illegal fireworks is prohibited by law, with punishment up to a year in county jail and up to a $1,000 fine. If you suspect the use of illegal fireworks, report incidents to RCPD by dialing 916-362-5115.

Keeping Pets Safe and Comfortable

July 3rd and 4th are two of the busiest nights of the year for the  City of Rancho Cordova's Animal Services team. Pets can become frightened by the loud sounds and unfamiliar sights during 4th of July festivities and may try to escape. It is best to keep your pets safely indoors. If you're going to the City's Fourth of July Celebration, please leave your pet at home. Service dogs only.

The hot temperatures can also put your pets at risk of heat stroke. Never leave your pet in a parked car, and take special care to keep your pet cool at home.
