Twas a Storybook Trail, with Christmas Detail

"Twas' a Storybook Trail, with Christmas Detail" is a whale of a tale! Placed in storefronts in downtown, to read clearly you must walk in the correct order around!

We invite you to enjoy our first ever "Storybook Trail" that will be placed in the storefront windows of 14 participating shops. These shops will have two book pages that will include the table of contents that put the pages in order according to store locations, revealing the entire "Storybook Trail" poem about a fun filled Morganton Night Before Christmas!

It’s a Cigar Night Special Holiday Edition — a Wednesday!

Stogies on the back porch! Craft'd can help you select a cigar for your palate and pair it with a fantastic glass of wine or beer. They have some fabulous Ports available by the bottle, as well as several wines and beer on tap.

Craft'd will have tables and chairs set up, but feel free to bring your favorite, comfy lawn chair/deck chair. Rain or shine — tents will be set up if necessary. And there are heaters for these awesome, crisp Fall evenings.

2020 With Love is a holiday pop-up store created with love by local crafters, artisans and supporters of Burke County United Way. The store will open on Black Friday, November 27, 2020 at Burke County United Way's storefront office in Downtown Morganton, at 121 W Union Street and will close on December 19th.

100% of the store's profits will go back to Burke County United Way.

Cozy up with loved ones on a holiday carriage ride around downtown Morganton. Whether it is a romantic evening for two or an evening out with your family, enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides throughout the holiday season. Rides will be held on Fridays and Saturdays beginning November 27-December 26, 2020 (Rides not available on Christmas Day, December 25). Tickets are $5 for Adults and $3 for Children 12 and under.

Carriage Rides may be booked beginning at 5:00pm on the night of your preferred ride. No advanced bookings will occur. Carolina Carriage Company staff will be on site beginning at 5:00pm to take your reservation. Rides begin at 5:30pm and will depart from 111 North Green Street, lasting approximately 15 minutes.

No call ahead reservations are accepted. Tickets can only be purchased on site for that night.

COVID guidelines: Face masks and social distancing are required during the purchasing of tickets on site. No congregating on site, unless your ride is coming up soon.

Carriage Rides are offered every Friday and Saturday from November 27th through December 26th. (No rides will be offered on Christmas Day, December 25th)

Be sure to dress warmly as these rides occur after dark!
It's Just How the Cookie Crumbles Wine Tasting
at Craft'd
Friday, November 27th 5:30-8:30pm

Thanksgiving is over, let the Christmas Season and cookie bingeing begin! We will be pairing four amazing wines with four delicious homemade gourmet cookies:

Chardonnay/Chai Shortbread;
Riesling/Gingersnap;
Cabernet Sauvignon/Classic Chocolate Chip; and
Zinfandel/Oatmeal-Cranberry.

The pairing includes a homemade gourmet cookie and 2.5-ounce pour of each wine. The wines will also be available by the glass and bottle if you find one you love! The cost is $15/person; $1 from each pairing will be donated to Southmountain Children and Family Services.

Tasting will be tableside; c’mon in when you’re ready.

Please note: seating is limited due to COVID-19 precautions, but we will do our best to accommodate everyone.

We are still under COVID-19 restrictions; masks are required upon entering the store and until you are seated. Please put your mask back on if you need to get up.
Holiday Farmers Market

Support your local farmers and crafters during the TWO Holiday Farmers Markets! The first event is set for Small Business Saturday, November 28th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 111 North Green Street. There will be a variety of gift items for the holidays as well as fresh produce and baked goods.

The second market will be held on Saturday, December 12th, just in time for some holiday gifts! Shop from 10:00am-2:00pm at 111 North Green Street. During this market there will also be a chance to win Holiday Bucks! Find the boxes at vendor tables and submit your ticket. Ten lucky winners will receive $100 in downtown Holiday Bucks (there is no cost to enter this contest).

To stretch, or not to stretch? That is the question! And Darrell Watson, Human Movement Specialist, LMBT, RYT200 has the answers.

Join Breathe for this informative workshop where you will explore when to stretch, what to stretch, how to stretch, and how to use yoga poses to support stretching.

The cost for this 90-minute workshop (that may become a series!) is $20 for current members and $25 for new students.

This will be an in-store, drop-in style book signing, and weather permitting, will be held on the sidewalk under the awning in front of the shop.

Local author Sandra Warren will be in-store with Adventure Bound Books on Independent Business Saturday celebrating her children's book, Spivey's Christmas Web! Sandra is also the author of She Started It, a middle grades historical fiction novel about the same subject matter as her non-fiction, adult title, We Bought a WWII Bomber: The Untold Story of a Michigan High School, a B-17 Bomber & The Blue Ridge Parkway. She is also the author of adult historical fiction novel Obsessed By A Promise. These titles will be available for purchase and signing during and prior to the event.

This event will be hosted in-person and on Zoom! Tonight teens will discuss the books they’ve read this month (or the book they received in their Wrapped-Up box) and share their thoughts! Open dialog is encouraged, and discussion topics are not chosen in advance - teens lead the discussion! Participants in the Lit Lounge will also receive early access and priority registration/renewal for next month’s Wrapped-Up @ your library subscription box.

Drive Thru Christmas Parade
Starting at Patterson Street on Bouchelle Street

The Morganton Downtown Development Association invites you to join one of downtown’s most cherished holiday events, the annual Morganton Christmas Parade on Tuesday, December 1st from 6:00-8:00pm. This year’s event offers attendees the enjoyment of viewing the parade floats, bands, and characters from the comfort of their own warm vehicle. Parade floats will line both sides of Bouchelle Street in downtown Morganton for two hours, to entertain to all that drive through. During the parade be sure to tune into 96.5 FM WSVM Your Hometown Station to hear holiday music and parade exclusives throughout the evening.

The parade route will run along Bouchelle Street beginning at the intersection of Patterson Street (behind CVS and BB&T) to Concord Street. Attendees can enter the parade area by turning on Bouchelle Street from Sanford Drive or from Fleming Place (next to the Fairfield Inn & Suites). The parade is open to vehicular traffic only. More details about the parade, including a map are available at www.downtownmorganton.com, for those who can’t make it out, the parade will be broadcast on CoMPAS X-Stream. Want to see the parade a second time? CoMPAS will air the parade throughout the season.
