Good Karma, Middle Schools and Great Local Restaurants
Dear Friend of MCF,
This month I've been reflecting on how critical partnerships are to our shared success. Collaboration is simply vital to preserving land, working with schools and advocating for preservation funds. A great example of this is the success we celebrated with Keep it Green partners after the Assembly’s unanimous passage of the implementation bill ensuring a large and stable source of preservation funding. The bill advanced out of the Assembly in late June and was signed by Governor Murphy’s on June 26th. Read the full press release by clicking here.
I would like to congratulate the Keep it Green team of partners on this wonderful success!
Sincerely,
William D. Kastning, AICP
Executive Director
P.S. It will be groovy seeing you on September 21st as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock at our annual Fall Fete and most important fundraising event of the year. It's sure to be a dynomite time!
Growing food in the classroom using sustainable gardening methods had a lasting impact on middle school students across Monmouth County this school year. "It really sparked them," explained Ms. Kristen Mariello, a Red Bank middle school teacher. "It was like a spark came alive in some of them that I hadn't seen before."
What's All the Commotion at the Former Chris's Deli?
If you pass by the former Chris' Deli on West Front Street in Middletown, you've seen some activity lately as the Monmouth County Park System works to transform this land into Swimming River Park. The buildings on the former Chris' Deli and Landing site are being removed to make way for the park. Stay tuned as more progress is made!
