Milton, No. Gwinnett to meet top FL teams

Officials from Airo Nation and Spire Sports + Entertainment announced the launch of the Inaugural Freedom Bowl, a two-day, six-game lineup hosted by Metro Atlanta's Milton High School and slated for this upcoming Labor Day Weekend (Aug. 31-Sept. 1).
"The Freedom Bowl brings top level high school football to one location and provides much more than just football competition," said David Menard, Founder and President of Airo Nation. "Utilizing this amazing platform will also inspire and educate our youth about what the men and women of our armed forces sacrifice to protect our freedom."
The Freedom Bowl aims to raise awareness of and raise proceeds for wounded servicemen and servicewomen.
Spire Sports + Entertainment (based out of North Carolina) and Airo Nation (a Florida-based company that specializes in regional and national 7-on-7 tournaments) have teamed together to form the event and sought out Milton to be this inaugural year's exclusive host.
The six games will be divided into a Friday night doubleheader and a four-game Saturday lineup. Georgia will be represented on both days, with Milton playing on Friday and North Gwinnett playing on Saturday.

Mill Creek reasserts itself as Class 7A No. 1

Mill Creek solidified its place back atop Class AAAAAAA, sweeping previous No. 1 North Gwinnett (now No. 8) in three games and moving from third to first. There wasn't much movement in Class AAAAAA, but Brunswick falls from No. 10 after losing a series to South Effingham and Alexander checks in at No. 10; Pope remains No. 1. Carrollton falls from No. 3 to No. 9 in Class AAAAA after losing both of its games to unranked Villa Rica last week, and Wayne County is still on top. West Laurens and Stephens County fall out of the Class AAAA rankings after losing series, and Eastside returns at No. 9 with Burke County debuting at No. 10.
North Hall falls from No. 2 to out of the rankings after losing two of three to Greater Atlanta Christian, which comes in at No. 10, and Ringgold stays No. 1. Thomasville is again No. 1 in Class AA, and Rockmart tumbles from No. 3 to No. 6; Dade County (No. 8) and Berrien (No. 10) enter the Top 10. Gordon Lee is still the team to beat in Class A-Public, and Charlton County jumps Irwin to No. 3 from No. 4 after another head-to-head win. In Class A-Private, Tattnall County holds onto No. 1 despite splitting a two-game series with Strong Rock Christian, which comes in at No. 10 this week; Wesleyan moves up from No. 7 to No. 4.
