International Market Access Through Multiple Trade Agreements


Belize is strategically positioned with preferential market access to world markets through multiple trade agreements. As a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Belize enjoys preferential market access to the European Union, United States, including bilateral trade agreements with the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Cuba, Colombia and Venezuela. The country also has a Partial Scope Agreement (PSA) with Guatemala, and is actively pursuing a PSA with Mexico and El Salvador. Moreover, the Government of Belize, guided by the National Trade Policy 2019-2030, continues to strengthen its international relations in an effort to expand its avenues for trade.

Success Story: Hot Mama's Ltd


Hot Mama's Belize Ltd is an agro-processor and manufacturing company that specializes in producing hot habanero peppers sauces, tropical fruit jellies and species for both the domestic and international markets. The company believes in a culture of giving back to the local community by working hand-in-hand with local farmers "one bottle at a time." Over the years, the company has diversified to include a fusion of fresh mangos with habanero peppers and the Sweet Pepper Sauce- "#1 seller". Both products have won several awards at international food shows in the USA which includes: 'Three Heat levels of the Habanero Pepper Sauces', a 'Hot Mustard' and a 'Steak & BBQ Sauce.'
