What's Happening at TRCS
A MESSAGE FROM NIC CHAPIN
|
Happy Friday to you! Next week we will be holding the Fun Run. I can't wait to get out there and run to raise money for TRCS. Please come and support us! We start running at 1:30!
We have just completed the Fall Conferences with our families. We are grateful to the entire community for joining us to share the successes and goals, the transition into this new year and sharing our hope for our successful future! This is what it takes to make a very impactful community. Each one of us here at TRCS care that you took the time to come and share your thoughts. If you have additional questions please email the entire team of teachers at
teachers@3rcs.org
or call and set an appointment with any teacher.
A quick reminder that next week is a five day week with a half-day on Wednesday, October 23rd. Dismissal is from 12:00pm to 12:15pm.
Compassion thought of the Week: One of my favorite Dr. Suess quotes is, “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” I have found that we never know the impact we have on others until it is in the past. I encourage our community to show compassion as frequently as possible because it might be that moment that makes the difference for somebody else.
Have a great weekend and we will see you all on Monday.
Nic Chapin

TEXT ALERTS & VOICE MESSAGING
|
We announced previously that Sangha is no longer in service, so all parents can delete the app from their devices. To communicate with parents we will continue to use email, The Wave, and our website. We will also be using text alerts and voice messaging through Edlio (our website provider). We will be using phone numbers and emails provided on each student's registration cards. Next week, we will be conducting a test of the system, so be watching for a text alert and a phone call from the school. If you know you need to update your contact info,
please let us know!

We would like to offer our 6th, 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to be part of a debate club and contest. We are working to arrange for a few group coaching sessions for interested kids, but a big part of the coaching effort and supervision of potential club meetings will have to come from our parent community. Such a club can come to exist and sustain itself only if there is enough interest and support from families. You will find the
sign up sheet here
. If we have enough interest we will contact families and get it started! We hope to add this fantastic opportunity to our TRCS community.

We need to remind parents of a couple of important pieces of information from our school handbook:
ABSENCES:
If your student is going to be missing school for any reason, please notify
the office
as soon as possible. We ask that parents call or email by 8:30 on the day of the absence. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in notifying us in a timely manner!
HOMEWORK:
As stated in our
handbook
, each grade level has specific guidelines for homework. Please communicate with us if you feel your student is doing more than the specified time on work at home!

Our 6/7/8 has begun touch rugby unit in PE. Our 4/5 will get their chance at the end of October (see dates below). We will be on the field rain or shine in the afternoons for about 45 minutes on blue days. Please remember to wear athletic shoes (no cleats!) and appropriate clothing for the weather (layers are great!). We also encourage students to bring their own water bottle. This is our third year partnering with
Oregon Rugby Sports Union
(ORSU) and it is a great way to connect our communities. As a reminder, students receive a pass/no pass grade in P.E. and an effort grade. We require a doctor's note if your student cannot participate. The last rugby date for 6/7/8 is Monday 10/21. Rugby dates for 4/5 are Thursday 10/24, Monday 10/28, Wednesday 10/30.
