You can check grades in Parent Connect P2

Please take some time this weekend to look at your child's grades. Check in with them about any assignments that are still missing. Dig around in all of their HUB Courses. See what they see. Empathize with the growing pains of middle school responsibilities. It's not easy! Cheer them on if they're one of the few that are thriving in this online environment!

Student and Staff Nominations Open to all Hogg Students, Teachers, and Families.

Diego Esmaralda- Principled
8th Grade Razorback of the Week

Diego Esmeralda is our 8th Grade Razorback of the Week for being Principled! Diego strives to be principled in everything he does, whether his creativity in art, critical thinking in math, or decision-making for himself. He is inspired by his family and their encouragement keeps him going each day! And he encourages all Razorbacks to be principled in their virtual learning because it’s more about learning responsibility than getting good grades.

At Hogg, Diego loves to be in the art studio. He loves to express his thoughts and feelings through art - even if it’s something simple! This will help him in the future as he would like to attend Hines College of Architecture and Design at the University of Houston and become an architect. Diego’s favorite Razorback memory is the teacher vs. students basketball game in 6th grade.

Outside of school, Diego enjoys playing video games, creating mini sketches, and playing football and soccer (just for fun!) with his brothers. They have a Westiepoo named James (who Diego did not name :)).
Nurse Mack - Caring
Staff of the Week

Nurse Mack is our Staff Razorback of the Week for exhibiting the IB Profile Trait of Caring! Nurse Mack values people and their friendships and is genuinely interested in what is going on in their lives. She knows she can’t solve every problem, but she loves to lend a listening ear! And anyone who has been to her clinic can attest that she is one of the most Caring people on campus!

Now in her fourth year at Hogg, Nurse Mack began her medical career in the Pediatric ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital. After that, she moved to Australia for her husband’s job and spent a few years down under. Upon her return to Texas, she decided that the family-centered approach of school nursing suited her best and spent one year at an elementary school before becoming a Razorback. Her favorite Hogg experience is Halloween because she loves to see everyone dress up and have fun!

When not in her clinic on the first floor, you can find Nurse Mack spending time with her family and traveling to new places. She’s been married to Will for 13 years and they have two children and a little dog named Stump. They love to hang out in their neighborhood with their friends and make memories.

And besides staying healthy, Nurse Mack advises all Razorbacks to be proactive in their school life because no one else will do it for you!

LAST Day for 3rd Six-Weeks F2F/Virtual Selection
From the HISD News Blog

Parents will have from Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 13, to make their selection through the HISD Connect Parent Portal “Forms” section.

If parents would like to keep their selection as-is, no action is needed. The current selected mode of instruction will carry over for the third six-week grading period.

If a change is needed, parents will be able to log in to the HISD Connect Parent Portal and make their new selection. Parents also can contact their child’s school to change their selection. Please utilize our helpful step-by-step videos on completing forms or getting started in the Parent Portal.

This process ensures campuses can begin planning for physical space, staffing, and scheduling. There will be additional opportunities to change a selection throughout the year, if desired.
