In this newsletter, you will find a list of exciting upcoming opportunities including: our November 8-9 workshop in Washington DC on how you can provide safety and security for your staff & students working overseas; our annual Global Health conference in Chicago; our first collaborative forum in the Middle East with the American University of Beirut on November 1-2, 2018, and many more from our member institutions.
We have created a new research platform that enables NGOs, companies, governments and institutions to post funded research questions and institutions in low-income countries to share unfunded research questions. The platform will help connect research needs with talented Masters, Doctoral and postdoctoral candidates. This is a win-win situation. It will provide high-quality research for the funder while enabling young researchers to acquire resources for their work and build connections for future employment opportunities.

The Global Health Mini-University (Mini-U) is an annual day-long learning forum for Global Health professionals and students
.The 2018 Mini-U will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018.
In addition to gaining access to technical knowledge, participants will also be able to engage in networking opportunities with a cross-section of Global Health professionals. Attendees of past years have included students, medical professionals, public health experts, NGOs, USG staff, non-profits and others interested in global health.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are responsible for any necessary travel or accommodations.

As the burden of cancer shifts to developing countries, the collective expertise of MD Anderson Cancer Network® is helping to build cancer care capacity
through partnerships with the African nations for in-country training and education of healthcare professionals and helping them develop their own cancer programs and policies.
MD Anderson has been designated as a Project ECHO superhub for oncology telementoring and has established a series of ECHO partnerships across Texas, Latin America and Africa to address needs in tobacco cessation, survivorship and palliative care in addition to cancer prevention, screening and management.
The GAP Conference provides a forum for faculty from MD Anderson and its sister institutions to develop collaborations and exchange research results and ideas. The annual event draws more than 800 participants from about 40 countries.

New "Reasoning Without Resources" Case Now Available
These teaching cases are based on Professor Paccione's decades of teaching experience on the medical wards of Kisoro District Hospital in Uganda. They are designed for those practicing in low resource settings, Medicine and Family Medicine residents, and senior medical students interested in clinical global health. Each case is presented in two parts. First comes a case vignette (presenting symptoms, history, basic lab and physical exam findings) along with 6-10 discussion questions that direct clinical reasoning and/or highlight diagnostic issues. One month later CUGH will post detailed instructors notes for the case along with a new case vignette/questions.

SOPHE's
Health Promotion Practice journal seeks
abstracts for its special theme issue, "Pedagogy for Global Health and Health Promotion," which is scheduled for a December 2019 publication date.
The special theme issue will address the pedagogical, curricular and philosophical issues relevant to faculty, administrators, global public health practitioners, educators and professionals engaged in global health education and promotion.

Internal Carbon Pricing in Higher Education Toolkit
Colleges and universities are important leaders in preventing the worst impacts of climate change. Pricing carbon is one instrument schools can use to advance climate solutions. This toolkit provides recommendations, examples, and tools to guide schools through the process of exploring, designing, and implementing a carbon price on campus.
The toolkit is a product of the Carbon Pricing in Higher Education Working Group, a collaboration of institutions interested in internal carbon pricing. This toolkit is in beta, and the authors invite questions and recommendations for improvement.

Human Dx's Global Morning Report
The Human Diagnosis Project (Human Dx) is an online tool for assessing and training clinicians' diagnostic reasoning. Using Human Dx, physicians and trainees practice their clinical thinking through brief, interactive teaching cases.
Human Dx's daily
Global Morning Report (GMR) is a series of exceptionally high-quality teaching cases that are peer-reviewed by a team of physician clinical educators. GMR is a fun, engaging way for clinicians to practice their clinical reasoning in just a few minutes each day. Upon completing each case, learners receive immediate feedback on their performance, along with detailed teaching points. Multiple GMR series are available based on a physician's specialty and practice interest (e.g., internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics).

Join the Tobacco-Free Finance Pledge
Addressing the financing of tobacco companies-across lending, insurance and investment-is essential to comprehensive global tobacco control efforts. The finance sector can play a positive role in addressing global health priorities, such as the tobacco epidemic. With seven million deaths worldwide each year and a forecast of one billion deaths this century due to tobacco-related illnesses, global and multi-stakeholder collaboration is needed to tackle the devastating impact of tobacco on society, as well as on the environment.

Two New Reports on TB, Human Rights, and the Law
The O'Neill Institute, alongside the Stop TB Partnership, has
released two new reports
on tuberculosis, human rights, and the law ahead of the first-ever UN High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis. Published on September 24, both reports are focused on addressing pressing legal and human rights issues in the context of TB, namely coercion and criminalization, and migration.
