Advocating for your business and the business interests of our community is one of our Chamber's four customer promises. Make the most of this promise. Scroll down and consider three easy ways you can get involved with our advocacy portfolio to get the most value out of your membership.

Best,
Amy Grau
1) Get Informed
  • Review our policy platform and blog "Our Voice" to get more familiar with the Chamber's priority issues and positions.
  • Get to know your Government Affairs Committee, who help shape our advocacy agenda.
  • Attend our eventsThe Chamber hosts a policy forum every-other-month that is free for Chamber members and features elected officials and other influential speakers on timely topics that matter to local business leaders. The next one is Coffee with the Candidates on Wednesday, Oct 17 from 8-10am at The Siena Hotel. This will sell out. Register now.
2) Get Engaged
  • Volunteer on local advisory boards: The region needs more business representation on municipal and county boards. Review open opportunities and apply now: Town of Chapel Hill | Town of Carrboro | Orange County
  • Vote and run for office: The Chamber manages an Election Hub featuring the latest state-of-play on what candidates and issues are on your ballot. With surveys and the (un)forum, you can get informed before you go to the voting booth.
3) Make Your Voice Heard
  • Speak at public hearings: Join Chamber staff and speak on behalf of the local business community at an upcoming hearing. Contact Katie Loovis, Vice President for External Affairs to get involved.
  • Contact elected officials and local media: While Chamber staff advocate on behalf of local businesses, it is also powerful and effective for elected officials and local media to hear directly from you.
Bottom line Decisions made by government officials and elected leaders have consequences for your business. The Chamber is your partner in advocating for your business and the business interests of our community. Let us help you navigate the legislative lay of the land - from local land use policies and regional economic development to state elections and the economy - and help you stay connected, informed, and engaged through the election cycle and beyond. For questions, contact  Chamber Vice President for External Affairs , Katie Loovis at  [email protected]  or (919) 696-0781 (cell).
