Fighting hunger around the ballpark
A new partnership in 2018,
North Dakota Farmers Union Insurance and the Great Plains Food Bank came together this summer around ballparks in Bismarck, Dickinson, Minot and Fargo to help in the fight to end hunger. Enough was collected to supply more than 5,000 meals from food and funds drives at games for the
Bismarck Larks,
Badlands Big Sticks (Dickinson),
Souris Valley Sabre Dogs (Minot) and
Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks throughout the summer.
Additionally, the Great Plains Food Bank received grants and gifts from
Capital Electric Cooperative Inc. ($2,500),
Hornbacher's Foods Check Out Hunger campaign ($60,793),
Metallica ($10,000) and
Monstanto Fund ($10,000).
