REAA NEWSLETTER
A newsletter to keep you informed about what's "up with arts."

Letter from the BOD President:
Dear Members and Friends,

Rehearsals for our One Act Play Festival are in full swing this month!  The location will be announced any day now. We know the location, but we need to secure some permits before we publicly announce the location and showtimes.

Both of our choral groups are busy preparing for the Holiday season.  The River's Edge Chorale is still accepting members.  Our annual Holiday Concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 9 in the afternoon. Save the date!

Do you have a child that likes to draw?  We are sponsoring Learn to Sketch program for kids on Saturday, October 20 which will take place throughout Downtown Hudson.

In September, we began a new Visual Arts partnership with The Vintage Cafe on Main Street in Hudson.  This is an additional venue where local artists can showcase their artwork within the community.  If you are a professional or amateur visual artist, please visit our Visual Arts webpage for more information on how you can showcase your artwork.

Read on for more information on these programs and so much more!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a play suggestion this past summer.  Eleven plays (10 original and one commercially published) have been chosen and will be performed in rotation during three performances on October 26 and October 27 2018.  We may even add an additional performance date!

We also had a great turnout for auditions for our the festival! Rehearsals are now taking place all around the area.

Check our website over the next few days for performance details!  We are excited to announce the performance location, but we need to check on a few logistics before we publicly announce the location.  It is definitely something new!!

Our Fall Semester began last week.  Registrations for the Fall Semester are closed, but we will be accepting new student registrations for our Spring Semester in December.  Please visit the RESOM webpage for more information:

  Member Spotlight...

REAA member and Art in the Hall artist Linda DeStefano Brown has an exhibit on display:

Exhibit:  At the Still Point--3 artists respond to T.D. Eliot's Poem, 'Burnt Norton'
Presented at 6 Bridges Gallery, Maynard
October 2 - November 10
Artist Reception:  October 20, 7-9 PM

My images in this exhibit reflect the convergence in space of past, present, and future.   The still point is where memories and thoughts intermingle to generate a dynamic reality outside the continuum of time.  Our past is our future as it is today. What is, what may be, what might have been all coexist within an endless stillness anchored in solitude, protected from the world in motion.   Reality is presented as allegories revealing hidden meanings that go beyond physical appearances.  Through this imagery, our visual conversation passes from one dimension into another creating movements that are still yet in flux.  While the world whirls around us, we are suspended in a state of contemplation about what is and is not, about what path to take or not.   As in Eliot's poem,
"What might have been is an abstraction
remaining a perpetual possibility
only in a world of speculation."

Are you an REAA member and have something to share?  Send a note to: [email protected] and we will do our best to share it in a future newsletter.

The River's Edge Arts Alliance is proud to be a member of the Assabet Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce!
