Dear All Saints Families:

A huge thank you to our Home and School Association for the annual Italian Night. A particular thank you is necessary for the three chairpersons- Mrs. Lisa Keller, Mrs. Jackie Marvin, and Mrs. Paula White. The event was well planned and executed. Thank you to everyone who helped in the kitchen and out on the floor. It was so nice to see students and alumni help out during this event. It is a wonderful event to bring everyone together as a community. Also, thank you to everyone who brought non-perishable items to restock the Catholic Charities food banks in Riviera Beach and Pahokee. Your generosity is abounding!

At the end of the last school year, the school's Advisory Council worked hard to complete the updated five-year Strategic Plan. This plan will be emailed to families. Hard copies are available through the office. This plan is created through surveys and information sharing with all stakeholders. It allows the pastors, administration, and the council to examine areas where we could improve, make plans to improve, and move forward in these improvements. After reading the Strategic Plan, if you discover there is an area that you would be interested in helping design and/or implement, please let me know. The increased and varied input and assistance would aid any plan or project. We work very hard to improve our school, thereby improving the education of our children.  One area of improvement that I know stakeholders are very interested in is the fields. Please know the Home and School Association, particularly Sarah Walthall, and administration are working hard to move forward in the capital campaign for the fields. Next week Mrs. Sarah Walthall, the President of the HSA, will be communicating the status of this fundraising effort.

Middle school parents, please save the date for two important events. On Tuesday, October 9th at 8:30 AM representatives from Cardinal Newman will be addressing both parents and students about this amazing Catholic high school. Father Carr, President, and Dr. Christine Higgins, Principal, will be sharing information about the programs available at Newman and answering any questions. Further, on Wednesday, October 10th at 6:00 PM, I will lead a short presentation on preparing your child for high school, what to look for in high schools, and items to be concerned about during high school to assist in college preparation. Having a child in the college system and recently undergoing all these steps as a concerned parent, I want to share the information I gained through the stress of it all. There is so much needed to help your child be successful and it can be stressful if information is not at the forefront of decision-making for your child.

It is with sadness that I ask our community in faith to pray for the loss of two members. This past Sunday Mr. Gary Titherington, father of 8th grader Gwen passed away. Alumni Brigette Sullivan (2014) also passed away suddenly. May they find peace in God's eternal love.

Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Jill Broz

Linear Equations Stained Glass Project - Joining Math and Faith

Eighth graders, having mastered the concepts of slope and linear equations, will be challenged to create a work of art with straight lines. The work of art is to look like stained glass, and have a Catholic religious symbol included in the piece. Once students have completed the draft of their drawing, they are to be sure that the appropriate number of positive, negative, zero and undefined slope lines have been included. Also included will be the equations for many of these lines as part of the mathematical component. This project will demonstrate their knowledge of linear equations and serve as a reminder that their Catholic Identity can be easily interwoven into their daily lives. Look for these masterpieces on Mrs. Heater's bulletin board next month!
Volunteer Opportunities

Helping Hands:
Join Helping Hands on Wednesday mornings in the cafeteria after drop-off.  This program assists teachers in completing material and resource preparation.  This is an easy way to complete your volunteer hours and a great opportunity to get involved and make new friends.  If you have smaller children at home, please feel free to bring them along as well.
Please contact Rita Berley with any questions,  rita.berley@handslawllc.com301-509-0729.

All Saints' Auction is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Mirasol Country Club. Regular meetings are held on Thursdays at 8:00 AM in the HSA Room 110. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Our two chairpersons, Laurie Canzio and Jamie Gozzo, are eager to have you join the team.   To volunteer email the committee at auction@allsaintsjupiter.org.

For any general questions please contact Patty Rabideau at 561-385-1659 or at pattyrab@comcast.net.  We want all of our families to be able to find where their time and talent can be best served.
