Foundations represent anchor institutions in the communities they serve and are well-poised to support local efforts to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion. This means they are uniquely situated to understand how community assets can be leveraged and people specifically impacted by systemic racial injustice and inequality engaged to advance more just, inclusive and wealth-building economies and communities.

LOCUS has been engaging in conversations with community foundations to learn how they're acting on the groundswell of anti-racist activism in the wake of George Floyd's murder. On this episode of the LOCast, we sit with Marisa Megallanez and Joanna Colangelo of the Albuquerque Community Foundation to discuss what DEI means for the foundation and what programs they've launched to put those values into practice. Sustainable Community for All
National Conference for Growing Community Foundations
The Annual National Conference for Growing Community Foundations went virtual for this year's theme, "Sustainable Community for All." Participants examined how rural and urban communities are still striving to thrive in an era of intense upheaval and challenge while using the online format to flexibly collaborate and make connections.

LOCUS led a session, titled "Local Investing in a Time of Crisis - Strategies that Support Sustainable, Equitable Development in Our Communities," during which we dug into how impact investors can reimagine and rebuild via local investing strategies. Click here to learn more about the conference.
