Update on West Anaheim sites
The Anaheim Housing Authority took ownership of four properties at Lincoln Avenue and Beach Boulevard on Dec. 10: the Americana Motel, the Americana Car Wash, the Mobil Service Station and the Old Mexico Restaurant.
This is the first step in plans to revitalize the corner as part of an overall effort to improve Beach Boulevard. Here's an update on our progress at each site.
Mobil Service Station: The Housing Authority is negotiating a lease rate under the current agreement, which is valid through 2025. The service station will continue to operate during this term.
Old Mexico Restaurant: The Housing Authority has assumed the existing month-to-month lease and will facilitate relocation once a plan and schedule is solidified.
Americana Car Wash: The owner ceased operations prior to the close of escrow for the site. We have fenced off the property and Anaheim Police will regularly patrol the property until demolition is accomplished.
Americana Motel: The Housing Authority is working with 42 people living at the motel to assess each person's situation and need and working on plans to secure alternative housing for them. This process should be finished by June.
After the tenants have been relocated, the motel will be demolished. The long-term development plan for the property is housing, dining and shopping.
