ANNOUNCEMENTS
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2018
  • FCA will have its first meeting Fri., Oct. 5 in the choir room during advisory. They will meet regularly the first Friday of every month.
  • All students are invited to sign up for a Tinkercad Lunch and Learn class in the library Tues., Oct. 9 during both lunches. They will be learning the basics of Tinkercad 3D modeling software, including how to create an account, put shapes together, rounding and beveling edges, resizing shapes, and other helpful tips. Students may bring a cold lunch (sack lunch from home or Grab-and-Go lunch from the cafeteria) and eat in the library during this class. Sign up starting today in the library. Space is limited, so sign up early!
  • Picture retakes and club pictures will be Fri., Oct. 19.
  • 2019 Track Tryouts will be Tues., Nov. 6 and Wed., Nov. 7, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. You must attend BOTH days! Tryouts will be held at the FHS Track, located at Ramay Junior High School. Students must have a current physical turned in to Coach Large in B4 before the tryouts. Appropriate athletic attire/shoes are required. Athletes currently competing in fall/winter sports, and athletes enrolled in 1st or 7th hour athletics DO NOT need to try out. Please see the flyer for more information, and contact Coach Large ([email protected]) or Coach Bennett ([email protected]) if you have any questions.
  • Starting this week, Woodland Warehouse (school store) will only be open Mon., Tues., and Fri. during advisory. Students can stop by if they need school supplies or other fun items!
  • The Green Acres Road sidewalk and drainage project is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 8. Please be aware of this during drop-off and pick-up, and use extreme caution when in the work area and watch for personnel and equipment.
Order Your Yearbook

In honor of National Yearbook Week, we are having a drawing for gift cards from Chick-Fil-A, Slim Chickens, and Whataburger. If you have ordered a yearbook by Thurs., Oct. 4, you are automatically entered in the drawing. We will draw Fri., Oct. 5.

The price of yearbooks will increase later in the year, so now is the time to get the best price! It's also a good idea to consider buying a yearbook ad now. Ads tend to sell out, so it's better to reserve your space sooner than later!

Health Fair Volunteers Needed for Afternoon Shifts

Volunteers are needed to assist with the 8th grade health fair Thurs., Oct. 4.  The health fair consists of vision, hearing, scoliosis, and BMI screenings. Our biggest need for volunteers will be the afternoon shifts.

If you are available for all or portions, please consider signing up for more than one slot and commenting with your availability.

If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse, Kristen Scott, at [email protected].
Bake Sale Items Needed

It's time for the PTO Fall Bake Sale! Please help by signing up to bring goodies or volunteering for a shift on Fri., Oct. 12.

Please plan to drop items off the day before the sale at the Woodland office. If you plan to drop off the day of the bake sale, please deliver all items by 7:30 a.m. for setup.

NOTE: Due to changes in FPS District policy, we cannot have home-baked goods at the sale. All items must be commercially prepared and packaged with a nutrition label.

Outreach Clothing & Hygiene Drive
Each year, Woodland's PTO Outreach Committee maintains a clothing, school supply, and hygiene closet to support some of our students-in-need throughout the school year. They will be replenishing and bulking up on items in high demand during the winter months.

If you are able to contribute, hygiene donations should be in new packaging, and clothing items should be new or gently used. Clothing should be items 7th and 8th graders would typically wear. Guidelines can be found at the sign-up link below.

Drop-off will begin during morning drop-off Mon., Oct. 1 and end Tues., Oct. 16. You may also bring items to the front office during regular office hours, Mon.-Fri., 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Shanda Sloan at [email protected] or Michelle Kieklak at [email protected].
