Arts in the Dark_ The Halloween parade celebrating Chicago_s creative community










Day of the Dead at Maxwell Street Market

Parade 6-8pm 
State St. from Lake St. to Van Buren St. 

After Party, 7:30-9:30pm  

Millennium Park

The enchanting nighttime parade unites the city's diverse creative community for a family-friendly spectacle of live music, unique floats, fanciful puppets and more. As part of the Year of Creative Youth, the opening float will feature young artists and festive lanterns. Following the parade, Millennium Park will host an After Party with live DJs, sideshow characters, stilt walkers, performance artists and more.

This free event will open with the dedication of a new mural "Camino al Paraiso" and continue with family-friendly ofrenda (altar) making workshop, pumpkin decorating, live music with The Luna Blues Machine, DJs and more. More information at maxwellstreetmarket.us.

Individual Artists Program _IAP_ Individual Artists Program (IAP) Grant Applications are Now Open
Professional artists living in Chicago are invited to apply for the City of Chicago's Individual Artists Program grants. Guidelines and applications are now available, and the deadline is Thursday, November 15, at 5pm. Applicants are encouraged to attend an application assistance workshop taking place in October. More information is available at chicagoculturalgrants.org.

 

Call for City of Chicago Christmas Tree Nominations Call for City of Chicago Christmas Tree Nominations
The City of Chicago is looking for a tree to grace Millennium Park this holiday season and serve as the City's "official" Christmas tree. The family of the selected tree will get the opportunity to "flip the switch" and light the tree at the 105th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on November 16. Nominations must be received by October 19. For nomination criteria and requirements, please visit cityofchicago.org/dcase.
