As ABHMS' "Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico" initiative enters its second year, a new One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) 2018-2019 fundraising goal is announced in partnership with American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA).

In response to Hurricane Florence, ABHMS has begun to release  OGHS Emergency Disaster-response funds, on behalf of ABCUSA. Area families of Karen ethnicity have been taken in by Karen churches in other states.

ABHMS presented the Judson Press Legacy Award to renowned American Baptist preacher, pastor, educator, author and scholar Dr. Henry H. Mitchell at his 99th birthday celebration recently in New Jersey.
